Part of story text is blue

Part of the text in my story is blue (and underlined, like a hyperlink) and when I roll over it, it turns green. I have tried this with both the regular and beta screens. It is the same in Safari (on my iPad) and on my PC (Win 10 - Chrome Version 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit), and Firefox 70.0.1 (64-bit)).

I submitted the story (actually chapter) in Word format (.docx Office 2013).

Is there something I need to do and resubmit it or is this on the server side?

Thank you!

I don't know if there are other places in your text, but I noticed "When Mom isn't around" has an anchor tag around it. Right-click on it in Chrome and select Inspect to see the HTML and you'll see it's placed within <a></a>. There's no actual href, so it's not actually linking anywhere. You'll need to resubmit, I suspect, unless you can notify Literotica editors.

Just to be a little clearer, this isn't a browsers-specific issue or such like. It's an error in the HTML, which you can see by using the Chrome Inspector. I'd hazard a guess that you had hyperlinked that text accidentally somehow in your original Word doc.

You can use Control F in the inspector to bring up a search box and type in <a> to look for more. Just a cursory search suggests plenty more in there.

Thank you SoulHouse.

I took the Word file and converted into a text file to strip out all the formatting codes. I then copy/pasted the text into a NEW Word file and then saved it as a .docx and a .htm. I did a search through the .htm (using LibreOffice) for the hyperlink markup tag and didn't find any.

The file has been resubmitted (again...this must be the fifth one!!!!)

Thank you for your help!

I'm not seeing a huge amount of italics or other formatting.

I would suggest switching to copy/paste into the story text box. I do a find for italics in the original, put in the html tags on each one, and then copy/paste that to a plain text file. I use that text file as the basis to paste into the submission form, ensuring that all formatting other than the tags I added is gone.

You can check everything in preview when you submit this way, meaning you can give it a final read before hitting submit. You'll probably be surprised by how many things you catch when you see the words in a different font face/size and in a different part of the screen than you're used to looking at them.

It's also easier for Laurel to process submission that arrive that way.

It requires a couple of extra steps, but at least eliminates some surprises that you won't discover until it's rejected or posts with weirdness, as happened with this chapter.

It looks completely fine on both the old and the beta story pages for me (using windows 10 and the latest version of Chrome). I even ran a search for link tags, and found none in the body of your text at all. I'm not sure what's going on here, maybe it's already fixed?

This is what I do too. In fact, I manually insert tags like <center>, <b> and <i> into my text as I write it, which spreads out the effort. It's easier than doing it all at once in the end and makes sure you get all of it, the only downside being that you now have some HTML tags in your story while you're writing and editing. Then I just copy the text directly into the text box on the submission form and it all works fine for me.

Some of my stuff gets posted to multiple sites, and Lit is the only one where I use the manual tag insertion. So I keep my original manuscript without any markup, and create individual documents tailored to the submission requirements of each site it will go on.

Maybe I'll go back and do each chapter like this and resubmit them. It definitely makes for a cleaner file. One of the reasons I didn't do this was because the FAQ says that if there is formatting to use a .doc or .rtf file rather than a text submission. If it makes it easier for them to post though, I'd rather the file be cleaner and get rid of all the excess junk that Word sticks in a document.

You must have looked at it after they posted the updated file. They did it really fast this time...usually it takes almost a week for a resubmission to post.

Thank you everyone!!!
