And the butterflies are swarming. I am more nervous with this part than I have been with anything I have submitted to date. Have any of you found this when submitting a second part to a long story?

Yes!

It has to be just right - at least as good as the first part - or you risk making everybody angry!

I'm working on two different chapter two's and one chapter three right now.

(grrr - and I just had someone who sent feedback for a chapter one email me and ask when the next part was coming out!)

These things can't be rushed!

The first and last chapter are the ones that are never wracking for me. The last chapter is the worst because of the finality of the plot and any "mystery" about the characters. There is no "next" chapter to clarify something. Readers tend to give feedback more after the final chapter as well.
