I think you're right, Cait. People don't have the time they used to for indulging their creative sides, especially the erotic aspects of roleplay. I was enjoying another large-scale roleplay game on Discord, which I hope is only on break. I so enjoyed playing and writing with the other players. I do hope that returns, but I miss the times when this place was thriving. There were so many creative ideas. I'll be in touch, though, and I hope when you want to do another story, you keep me in mind.

I remember when a lot of us would gather in the Lounge or in some other topic in the Lounge and we'd RP. We might hop around a bit but we always had fun. I miss those days so much. You did a lot of refreshing of your browser but hell, it was fun. There was a lot of drama too and I think that also might have had a hand in it dying the way it did. Mostly though, people either don't have the time or are not looking to RP in channel. It's a shame really. We had a lot of talented writers to enjoy reading back then. A different time, I suppose.
 
Yes, I'm feeling this drought of roleplay everywhere. I once went to a chatroom where I had regular writing partners/ friends and had many long, continuous plays. Sometimes, we even create our worlds and have rich stories. I understand some people might want to be discrete or go away from the rules for this forum, but it is still a shame. I've written some lovely stuff over the years and had some wonderful messaging back and forth just brainstorming. It is wonderful when it happens so that I can be patient. Lately, though a lot of missed connections.

I think discretion is only a part of it. I also think some people don't want to be judged for their choices and that's a shame. No one should ever be judged for anything. A person likes what they like. Sure, there has to some sort of boundaries and ground rules but come out and play people! Hell, I remember when we use to do sex scenes in channels but you don't see that anymore either.

Yes, I like to think of this as a free place to explore, but some don't see it that way, which is disappointing. I don't wade into other areas of the site like politics, for example, because I want this place to be my escape.

Well, before I retire to the night, I will say one problem is people aren't writing erotic smut. Some people are writing scripts for porn and doing that badly. They don't have a plot or rich characters. This a place where you can create so much, and people don't want to be creative with erotica, which is so much fun.

Yeah. I've noticed that too. There's a difference between smut/porn and erotica. At least, I've always maintained so. While my writing is something to fulfill me, I'm always thinking about my readers and what will keep them coming back to read again and again. That's where my real pleasure comes from, knowing that I'm creating a fantasy world where people want to keep "turning the page".

I suppose you are right, but I hate to admit it. However, I often times wonder how we can make or if we can, make it great again. Though I recognize we're dealing with different people. in different times. Nothing ever remains the same but I sure do miss those days.

Compliments aren't necessary, but one enjoys hearing they have someone in the audience clapping. I belong to a discord group for a classic computer game that many mod and discuss. I asked for a spot to post some fanfiction for the story, and only a few have read it. At least let me know. One person I was friendly with very much liked it, and I loved discussing it with her before she drifted off.

There are a couple other writing sites that are becoming this way. Abandoned and collecting dusts. 😔 Yea, different people and times.

Well, we've had that discussion already. This place isn't teaming with people as it once did. A shame, really. I wish people wanted to write and explore more.
