I'm at one of those times that no upbringing prepares you for and Dr. Spock never even thought to cover...

My wife found a rabbit style vibrator in our 13-yr-old's room... Now that was a shock but we would rather her use that than the real thing. We haven't said anything to her yet but feel we must have adiscussion, we just can't figure out what to say or how to approach it. We don't want to scare her and there is no way of not making it embarrassing.

But we need a few answers.. like where did she get it? is she sexually active other than the toy (ie is birth control called for?).

I've gone over her computer with a fine tooth comb and found no indication of her going to chat rooms or getting emails. But we also want to be 100% sure of that too.

Has anyone out there dealt with anything like this?

Luckily I have a Son. Sexual feeling are very nature, and yes she or any 13 year old will experiment. Mail order is the best answer as to where she got it. Her comp should be out in plain view of the parents and that is the best way to avoid on line trouble. Today's kids are far more sexually advanced due to the internet. All you can do is keep a very close eye on what she does on the net. There are many programs for parents out there to track a kids net roaming.

even if you had found something on her computer doesn't mean she's sexually active. Yes it's going to be embaressing but it's a very important conversation. Best of luck to you all.
