Pakistan: Death toll soars past 18,000

No Q thread made a sticky? We need a thread for those Lit members who live in the earthquake zone to let us know they are okay? Name a Lit member who lives there.
So we should only be compassionate when it hits one of ours.

Screw the 42 000 dead you say? Suuuuure.

That's not what I said. Your reading comprehension is terrible.

It's interesting how people were so up in arms over flooding on the coast with less than GB. No fund-raising, no red cross addresses and certainly no Q thread made a sticky.

Not only does charity begin at home but evidently it stays at home too.

Interesting

There's no tie-in to Bush until we can prove his niggardlyness and hate for people of the region...

On a side note, let's hope Allah counted Osama among the recalled.

You are a dumbass.
Coming from you that really hurts.

Just like an American to get all up in arms when something happens to you but to ignore it when it happens to something else.

I didn't get up in arms over Katrina because I knew the press was lying to me in order to get Bush.

Dumbass.

How much relief is Osama and Al Qaeda providing?

Let me know when they top what we have ALREADY sent.

Betcha they'll show up with hands out too dumbass...

Is this where Rimmy points out that per capita Sweden gives more aid than the US even when it's a pittance?

You obviously didn't understand the purpose of the sticky thread by queersetti.

How could he?

He's a dumbass who decided to bag on America.

He votes Democrat because he needs a nanny state to trake care of him...

I think I heard where Pakistan isnt accepting any help from India? Did I hear that right??

I haven't heard that, but then I don't watch the 24/7 news...

I got the summer blues,
I can't find my shoes,
The only thing on TV is the good morning news!

PS - Rimmy,

The clown outfit is appropo.

You look like the clown that tried to hit on my wife in N'Awlins...

it was something like, okay you can send financial aid if you like but we cant have you here in our country helping out.

Haven't seen anything explicitly stating this as an official reply by Pakistan, but the one quote I saw had some chill to it.

If I remember correctly, India was one of the first to have helos in the area helping to move material & people.

Considering their history, it's best they stay on both sides of their border...

Besides, isn't India busy helping itself?

The quake wasn't just in Pakistan, no?

the quake epicenter was in Pakistan. The damage to India's territory has been of a much smaller scale. Last number I recall seeing only had about 1500 dead in India controlled territory.

Think I have a map in the first few pages of the thread showing the primary affected area.

Pakistan is accepting Indian aid, but will not allow any Indian troops to enter their territory. That is all folks.

That’s the one thing that bothers me in a catastrophe like this, refusing help based on politics. Only the people suffer..............sad

yeah, well, every gov't does it. There was a list of governments the US govt refused or ignored aid offers from for Katrina. Cuba was the most obvious, but there were a few more.

Governments only care for their people as long as it fits the the leader's agenda.

True but its not like we need the money. You have a nation just next door and im sure they can use the help. We dont need cuban doctors!
