Was watching the discovery channel, and they were poking people with a double needle where the gap between the needles could adjust. On the legs most people could only feel one poke with the needles as far apart as 3 inches, but on a fingertip they could feel two only a fraction of an inch apart. Seems that most of your receptors are on your hands, feet, face, and tongue. They didn't go into genitals. It's why a paper cut on my finger hurts like hell, but I can walk in woods in the summer with shorts and scratch my legs all to hell, but feel little pain.

Thats why I can work outside in subzero weather with jeans and no long underwear and my legs feel fine but my hands are killing me no matter how many glove liners I have on.

It was a great show. I loved the experiement with the electrical pulses and the sugar pills. Very interesting. How much pain we can stand if we just tell our brain we can do......

Yeah, I kept wanting to tie bdsm to the show, but couldn't quite make the connection. It would be hard to get a sub to buy into the pain enhancing or reducing pills unless you were a doctor or pharmacist.

Sounds interesting to me. i've read about studies conducted wherein subjects were able to localize their physical pain by using their mind to centralize it in one specific spot. It's a given that much of this was accomplished through extensive mental exercises as well as a little self-hypnosis. If i'm not mistaken, it is a method sometimes sought after by those with chronic pain that cannot be treated with medicine or surgery.

What was the name of the program? Thanks in advance.

True - but you know that a person can withstand quite a bit of pain if their head is in the right place. As a Dom I would think that would be valuble information for you. I think that's why I'm drawn to the whole pain/tolerance thing. Its almost like a challenge. What will win - my body or my mind?
