I had my annual pelvic last week. I have never had pain with intercourse before. Two days after my pelvic, my guy and I has sex and I was in EXCRUTIATING pain after. Not during, but after. This happened twice in a row on two different days. Hasnt happened since, but it still nagging at me. Could getting a pap smear cause this? I have never had that happen before after an exam. I figured maybe I was roughed up a bit on the inside or something...I dont know!

Any feedback would be super swell:)

Yup.
A Pap smear involves scraping cells off the surface of the cervix. Some Dr's have more problems with thier patients complaining of this then others.

Still- give it a week to heal up, if its still causing you pain, see a different Gynocologist to find out what's going on down there.

yep

I agree with Vix,

My doctor also says that sometimes the implements will put pressure and pinch certian area when clamping the vaginal area open. Just give it a few days and duche to releave pain.

I've had this happen one time. It was with a different doctor who wasn't so gentle, and I've never been back to her for anything since.

Last year, I had a pap by a young doctor who had obviously never come up against a tilted cervix before. He dug and dug and dug trying to get it back up, but really ripped me up inside while he was doing it. I was still hurting a month later. Needless to say, I'm afraid of going back and getting another one. I HAVE had one painless pap done by a female doctor at a specialized female clinic, but with all the others, I've had a hard time.

Don't douche. Douching is more harm than good. And I can't imagine that a nice warm acidic bath of your insides would relive any pain either.

Sorry to hijack...is douching (without a specific instruction from the doctor to solve a medical problem like an infection) EVER a good idea? I've heard it's not, but has anyone else heard it's ok from a reliable source/professional?

Thanks, Xeros! I think I know the answers to some of these questions, but it's always nice to have confirmation just in case I heard wrong. :rose:

Wifey-poo was really sore after her pap about a year ago... I made the mistake of snickering... 6 months later I passed a kidney stone... how's that for karma ladies. I shall never joke about a ladies suffering again.

my sis-in-law has this problem.
she lies on her stomach, with her hips on a pillow, to have her pap done. apparently, this position helps the cervic 'drop' into view.

she's also tried lying on her side, which did help, but says since she's been on her front, everything has been much smoother.

just a thought you might want to suggest.
