Pagan Friendly Liti-zens

I was a practicing solitary wiccan for many years, but at this point, I'm mostly an observational wiccan (I made that term up). I don't do any of the spell casting, or the drawing down or any of that anymore (just lazy), but I believe in it.

As to the person who was asking about the darker side of magick...you come back to the rule of three. Do something good, it comes back to you. Do something bad, you get it back worse.

While Wicca has influences of Pagan, Pagan is not necessarily Wicca - so - does this leave us talking about Wicca or Pagan, or both?

How do pagan cultures differ in attitude to us in the now, when it comes to sex?

Pagan people tend to be very down to earth about sex and the 'need' for sex, although there are so many different pathways in the faith. My friend and I became very close as a consequence of opening up about our respective interests in Wicca as a religion.

I'm extremely drawn to the Earth Mother aspects of paganism, although I'm not a maternal person at all in any other respect. My maternalism tends to be expressed through a love of the wilderness and the people around me. I find that Wicca embraces these sentiments and I get on very well with my girlfriend's pagan friends as a result of this.

Generally pagans believe that if no one is harmed by the consequences of your actions, be they sexual or otherwise, then it is okay to practice them. I'm very much in agreement with them on that front.

Wicca is a faith.

Paganism is a generic term coined to encompass worship that does not involve a single, autonomous god. The two have become fused together, hence the fact that many Wiccans in this country are also members of the Pagan federation. it merely symbolises the fact that you do not worship one god, but many.

Nature has a multitude of personalities, and nature - in and of itself encompasses more than does 'down to earth'. Perhaps the mind air, perhaps the unconcious sea . . . all ready to destroy. Nature is not prejudiced, nature is both kind and not . . .

Nature is not necessarily 'motherly' and 'nurturing'. I understand this. I respect the Wicca teachings, as some friends embrace.

Yet, paganism and Wicca are not the same. To be Pagan is what? To be Wicca, what? We will travel on that VAST sea from here.

To be a Wiccan, as I understand it, is to open your arms to the limitless possiblities of natural living. It is about being open to the myriad avenues of the senses and existing in a sense of harmony with nature and the world around us.

Our senses instruct us in many paths of living and we would do well to follow them, as opposed to the manufactured guidance of the fashion magazines and TV culture foisted upon us from all directions in this modern age. The sheer tranquility to gained from sitting for an hour in a woodland glade, far from the sounds of traffic and mundane noise is quite a breathtaking experience.

The sense of personal space gained from such a foray into the natural world, far outweighs the (often difficult) paths to reach it.

I'm not a preacher, but try it yourself and see how it leaves you feeling.

Only problem is, *all* songs are about sex.

"How do you like it, how do you like it, more, more..."
