I hope some of you have experience with Tarot...

I had this reading done today by a friend of a friend. She's kinda known to have a bit of a psychic gift. She read my cards and had other input as well, predicting some crazy eye-opening stuff. I'll post my reading and her interpretations (briefly) and if anyone else has some insight, that would be great. She was using the Renaissance Tarot with a Celtic Cross spread. It was a general reading, but kinda lead towards my new relationship. Now, this woman had never met me before, knew nothing about me other than the fact that I have a son (who was happily playing with her daughter).

I won't be hurt if anything negative happens to be said, I'm looking for honesty, not candy coated happy happy shit... and please, no troll-ish crap either.

1. Present position: King of Pentacles

My parner is steadfast and productive, a good partner. He tends towards slow progression.

2. Immediate influence: Knight of Wands

Fast moving. Fire signs (he's an aries and I'm a saggitarius)

3. Goal or Destiny: The World (reversed)

Inevitable change in development, though delayed by uncertainty (which I think has to do with me).

Failure due to lack of planning.

What she also got from the card layout was that she thought that marriage would happen within one year, and a child would come a year after that. She was also 100% certain that it would be female.

Sorry, I don't remember much about Tarot, but I have a question...well, it's something that I have noticed and was wondering if other's had ever felt the same way...

I am Wiccan...but haven't been studying as I should...I used to read all the time, and lately, for about a month or so, I have been really lazy about it...and since then I have been REALLY sick.

When I devoted my extra time to it, I felt a zillion times better than I do now...is it just in my head? I am usually positive about everything...try to see the good in all things, but lately, it's been a 'why bother' sort of feeling...anyone else go through this?

We all go through cycles, just as in all of nature, everything does

Even though the Solstice has occurred, and the year is on the upswing, in most peoples minds we are still in a stagnant time of being, this Winter... Now is the time for reflection and actually, feeling the way you do... It is a positive that you recognize it

Spring is just around the corner so cheer up... we're all just doing what we have to. I know that feeling of needing to learn more...

It's a wonderful journey...

And I've always thought... damn, if I didn't spend so much time on Literotica I might get somewhere

Has anyone attended a Wiccan dedication, and could tell me what that involves? I've just learned I'll be hosting one at my home and I'm wondering if there is anything special I can do to prepare my home for the ceremony.

Yes, she is a friend of mine. She's dedicating herself around this time next month and we were talking about it and she mentioned to me that the priestess had planned to do the dedication at my home - but that was the first I'd heard of it I really don't know anything about dedication. I assume it can vary some of course. I know she'll be getting measured. I've been asked to participate so I'm sure that between now and then I'll be fully informed. It's possible my friend is being dedicated to a goddess as well as to the circle, but I haven't been told anything yet. I don't even know in which ways I will be participating. I have not been dedicated myself, and am unsure if I will, so I don't have any previous experience to go on.

You know, I was thinking the same thing about Lit. I'm considering it to devote more time to my studies - I've just been sick alot lately like I said, so I have spent alot more time on here...Colin and I need to discuss things, as he has been reading over my shoulder so to speak when it comes to Wicca and seems interested. Maybe we can learn together...that would be a first for me, but a most welcome first.

I would be concerned.... all the way around! You're home is being commandeered and you aren't even sure what is going on?

Stop and ask some questions... and not just about what you should be doing to prepare your home.

Before you become part of any ritual you should know what it is you are participating in and the reasons for it...

Tell them to take a deep breath....

Well, until they give you all the details I won't be much help. I can give you a little background on basics though.

They are performing the ceremony indoors, yes? You will definately want to do a clearing out rite.. simple sweeping and blessed water and some sort of really good incense that dispells all negative energies. (My personal fav. is sage smudge but I am a shamaness so that explains it I guess).

If they are doing measuring it may be that they are planning on some ceremonial garb. Some dedications require the dedicant to be blindfolded and naked before entering the circle, some do not. Some require that the dedicant have a personal Deity picked out, some do not. Those things are usually discussed by the high preist/ess before hand.

The most important things you can do at this point is to do a thorough house cleansing (spritually) and find out more about what their plans are. From there you can find out any color or stones needed as well as any other important correspondances.

The measuring that is referred to is a measuring of the postulant... Usually with a red thread, from the crown of the head to the souls of the feet. It was used in the past to be a symbol of commitment, so they would also take hair and nail clippings. (A bit coersive IMO, but it worked for the Gardnerian trad)

In the old days it was retained by the coven... Usually now though, the measure is given back to the inititate since she/he entered into this initiation in 'perfect love and perfect trust'

Thank you Dear one..I assumed because of what I had seen that it was something a bit different. When my best friend was initiated into her coven the red cord was used as a belt (twined with white) to close her robes. (after the ceremony).

chiming in better late than never...

an abundance of wands in any reading tends to signify change...dont know if that helps or not, but I like to look at the overall layout of the cards (ie, the abundance of one specific type of cards, or of a certian kind of face card (queen, king, etc) and how they are in relaiton ot each other) before i delve into specific meaning, sine i have found that it can alter the meanings of the cards drastically.


A dedication indoors, hmm? the only ones i have ever seen have been outdoor ceremonies, usually near runing water. If I were you I would take the same precautions I would take whenever friends come over to use my house as a ritual space (lots of space, nice wooden floors, less people)...I first off, remove ALL items that i have charged with power, like my stones on the windowsill, in fact just to be on the safe side, I remove anything that can absorb energy...like my plants...I do leave items up however that have been charged with protective energy...like my door guardian, or my beautiful suncatchers that no one would ever notice are protective guards. Then I go through and clean the house, top to bottom, or as close as I can (sometimes i dont have lots of time to prepare) and I use lemon water and sage to clense the space. People ask why I bother to take down my stones, or my statue of Bast, or whatever, beucase its not negative energy we work with, but the way i figure it, the less focused energy in the room(focsued, but not on the task at hand), the better things will go off...or I could just be insane...but it works for me

It's funny that you mention plants, which I never realized til now that you mention all this...but since a certain someone came into our house, our plants withered up and died.

On a regular basis, my house is not really open to many people, I like having my private space, I and I am territorial, most of my friends know this, adn dont make a habit of dropping by...I am just fine going to their houses, and they are ok with that, so I dont often have an issue with other ppls negative energy. When ppl do come over for non magickal purposes, they dont stay long enough to cause any great change in energy patterns.

I consider all consentual sex to be good and can be a path toward deeper love of self and world. I don't see sex as evil or bad, As for what other people think, I just ignore them. I don't care for what they think. If they don't like it they can stay in the hell of their own making for all I care. I has been exploring sex as spiritual practice in my art and mythography for last few years. I don't see god or gods as something out there. I see all men and women as potential gods trying to learn how to act like a proper king or queen in order to move up the evolution.

Most of my friends are used to my slightly eccentric way regarding my house, and as for new freinds, sometimes they need a person to explain it to them, cause they think I am being a snob...but i have been on my own since I was 16 and have always been this way about everywhere I have lived. Where as my sister (in spirit anyway) her house is an open place, people dont even have to knock, and you never know who is going to be there, or for how long, and she is ok with that, I would be driven insane...what with how often she has to clense her house because of other peoples enrgies, I wonder what the point is, cause she'll have to do it again almost before she realizes it...especially because she allows her house to be used as neutrual ground for arguements, etc...
