What does everyone do for their full moon rite?

Personally, I like to howl :D

But on a more behaving note.. sincerest compliments to all whom have so wonderfully posted herein.

Hearts blessings unto each and all :)

The Calling Pipes continued...

Fear not the sight of the rise of the moon
But dance in the arms of your lover the dark...
It's Pan's flute you hear in the song of the lark,
and it sings counterpoint with the loon.

Be lost in the rapture, beguiled by the beat,
Be crazed by the pounding of nude dancing feet.
Be drunk on the rhythm, the flute-driven trance,
Bewitched by the drums of the dance

What's up for tomorrow Image?? :D
Planning on rolling around in the morning dew for starters... :)

Actually May 10th will be a larger ritual, approx 50 people... I'll be honored to be calling the West Quarter there. Being a solitary though, I should be celebrating tonight but it's raining so tomorrow night I'll be dancing with my Lord in our woodland circle...

What about the rest of you?

Merry Meet All--

Damn I wish I had a scanner so I could post a picture of my HappyNakedPaganDance bumper sticker. I might have to ask a friend for some help.

Well Rhys-- were was I? Didn't know you were pagan. Guess I shouldn't have been suprised.

Hey Image-- Love the AV.

Beltane- Haven't celebrated that one in a while.

Been to wrapped up in to many other things. Sadly, I feel that I have become uncentered--(yeah, its a weird term, but if you've been there, you know what I mean.)

My mother-in-law is very religious and says that pagans/wiccans are all devil-worshippers. As much as she is a kind lady she is very intolerent of any faith that is not her own. She extends this view to other faiths in Christianity that are not her own. I don't agree with her view on pagans/wiccans yet I understand where she stands based on her faith. I have chosen not to tell her about the path I have chose to follow b/c I am aware of the conflict it will cause in the family. Am I not being true to myself by choosing to not reveal my feelings/beliefs?

one of the old sayings in Paganism and Wicca is-- To Know, To Dare, and To be Silent.

Although there are multiple meanings to this statement, sometimes its better to just keep your mouth shut. Don't throw pearls before swine.

Why say something that just going to cause a controversy. For those of us who find it difficult to keep secrets or to refrain from telling other people every little thing about ourselves (raises hand guiltily) this can be hard to keep in mind.

A Greenwoods Marriage continued...

The tempo grows faster, and faster again,
So whirl in your arms of your lover the night...
The music and song gives the Goddess delight
As Pan plays His pipes in the glen.

Then Pan plays a coda as daylight draws near
And you sleep in the arms of your lover the dawn...
Three notes... then two... and then nearly gone...
an echo you ever can hear.

These are considered the Four Laws of the Magus considered to come from Egypt...not specific just to Wicca...but here they are matched with the elements.

To Know (Air), to Dare (Water), to Will (Fire), to Keep Silent (Earth)...I agree with what you said...but I just wanted to add the "to will" part...I think that is extremely important. ;)

Edited to add...a good thing to keep in mind no matter what your faith is.

Wow, Caly, our study circle tonight just discussed this... And the fifth element... To Do (Spirit)

Funnily enough, the word "Pagan" meant "not of the faith of Abraham" i.e. Judo/Christain/Muslim and "Heretic" meant "of distorted/false faith".

Buddist, therefore, are pagan and many Christain churches consider J.W.'s and L.D.S. to be heretics.

Me? I take each person as they come, coz as my daughter said " 'People' suck, but people are wonderful."

I was just going to add that...

These are also the five points of the star within the circle (or pentangle)

For fun: cut open an apple and observe why the apple is the sacred fruit. The seeds for a natural pentangle inside. Each seed represents the five points with the meat of the fruit as the circle. This is why the apple is sacred to us.

The term 'Pagan' comes from the latin Pagani, which was used by the soldiers when they reffered to country people (as opposed to those who live in cities.

Good to know the Old Ways are alive in such an modern way. Merry Meet all

Ok...dumb question number one...exactly when is Midsummer this year? I was at work on Beltane...tried in my own...inept...way to celebrate it...difficult since I was on graveyard shift at the time also.

Am I correct in assuming that it will be on June 21st this year?

How pivotal is this celebration?

I have also been kind of leaning towards druidic beliefs...even though they seem to be clouded in mysts.

Hey, Go down to Title Wave and pick up the book By Oak, Ash and Thorn (actually three books in one) which explores the Druidic way of shamainism.

In Anchorage there isn't a current event for the summer yet, other than Pagan Path Class

Title Wave? Is this a bookstore in Anchorage? Here in Ketchikan I would have to go to Waldenbooks...I will try to see if they have it or will order it for me. Thanks.

That monthly class thing sounds good...wish I could go. Even with the time off I get with my job I seem to never be able to be free to attend the good things like that class on the 20th of June.

Someday...hopefully.

I have been learning through internet and books. On my own it is...slow and difficult to say the least. Practicing my learnings becomes...at times...even more difficult. Where I work there is a person who is a kind of minister of Christian faith. He has found out that I am interested and learning about paganism. I think he intends to 'save' me.

I have avoided a direct confrontation for the moment...but one will come I am sure. He just can't accept the fact that I think differently than he does. His first words to me...'you know...that is devil worship!'

My response: "Oh no! Really?!"

All that has been said...but he has a following at work and I think he has mentioned to several of his 'flock' about my thinking. Looks to be interesting times ahead. Not like I advertised it or anything. Just mentioned in passing that I didn't find Christian beliefs to be my thing. All it took.:)

Thanks for the input though...I will try to find that book.:rose:

Bright Blessings PS.

Further up on this thread is a very nice commentary from a Christain about paganism, print it out and give it to your friendly cleric.

It's hard to agrue with scripture when both sides are armed!

Damn...I had that copied off from that day too.

I will take a hard copy with me to work this time. Perhaps he will decide to just leave me alone. One can only hope.:)

Hey Curious... You have no dumb questions, nor or your efforts inept ... I rejoice in your Beltane celebration!!
In the words of Dion Fortune, "It is the heart, not the tongue, that invokes"

Midsummer, as Litha, or The Summer Solstice, in the western Hemisphere this year is June 21st. It depends on the astronomical postion of the sun, not the man-made calender definition. Each year is different

But this brings up a good question...

In Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night's Dream" , when the couples awake from their dreamnights fantasy, the family finding them, refers jokingly to the celebration of Beltane rites...

So is Midsummer Litha or Beltane?
