Firstly i would just like to say im glad i found this thread.
I have come to the conclusion that paganism is for me. For years i went to methodist church and dutifully studied the bible. Slowly it dawned on me that the inconsistances of so called convential religion just did not rest easy on my shoulders. Having open minded parents helped me to explore other options and i finally understood inner peace when i found paganism. But like i said i am very very new to all of this and i would like to have something clarified for me if you please.
I have a friend whose religion happens to be jehovahs witness and we have many a "debate" over my beliefs system. As far as they see it i need to find the true religion and that i am practically consorting with the devil..
My arguement is this...... before the advent of christianity the true religion(if thats what one wants to call it) is paganism. And that to not upset the apple cart(so to speak) the new religion of christianity moved their cerominies to coinside with the solsticies of the old religion. Now could someone please tell me if i am right or not. It just seems that when you look upon easter and harvest festival and xmas there is alot pertaining to fertility(easter) etc.

In my view, Paganism is not a religion but a philosophy of life, before organized religion came about... That's just the way the people lived, with the Earth, with the seasons and respect for all living things. A harmony with life...

Religion always seemed to me to separate man from nature, man thinking he was above it all yet worshipping God at the same time...

You are correct though in thinking that what we celebrate in modern times stem from pagan celebrations. Yes, Christian holidays coincide but it's so with many religions...

Mythology is a constant through out...

c)ever thing it might be lit screwing up the line and not that its screwed up?

You may feel free to interpret my comments any way you please, but seeing all the HTML tags displayed rather than interpreted not only detracts from and obscures whatever your sig-message is, it also means that virtually every post you've made is outweighed by the sheer size of this inelegant rendering - which I trust is not your intent. The reply was intended to combine a light tone with a point, since it's entirely possible you don't even have siglines displaying as you view the forum, in which case you'd be unaware of the flaw.

So, while offend is too strong a term, nonetheless you've drawn my attention in a way which is inherently negative:

a) I suppose you may like it that way, but I am willing to bet to the contrary.
b) It has nothing to do with yahtzee
c) Since most siglines are and were rendering fine, including HTML, lit isn't the culprit.

How cool for you! Do you live nearby? I've always wanted to do a trip to Stonehenge. Actually, to the other stone circles in the surrounds...
I had heard (NPR) that it was quite crowded this year but was surprised even that it is opened again to the public. I had thought that at solstice and equinox times that they made it off limits due to the crowds...

And a trip to Wales would be nice too, to visit Tintagel castle. I'm big into Arthuriana!
