yeah he should be saying "fly outta here like a bat outta hell"...besides...bats couldn 't fly in hell. Hell is the grave...and from what I hear there is not much room in those coffins. :)

copper is Earth

Elderberry Rob is so delicious who could possibly just use it as a cough syrup?

Harry Chapin

All my life's a circle;
Sunrise and sundown;
Moon rolls thru the nighttime;
Till the daybreak comes around.
All my life's a circle;
But I can't tell you why;
Season's spinning round again;
The years keep rollin' by.
It seems like I've been here before;
I can't remember when;
But I have this funny feeling;
That we'll all be together again.
No straight lines make up my life;
And all my roads have bends;
There's no clear-cut beginnings;
And so far no dead-ends.
Chorus:
I found you a thousand times;
I guess you done the same;
But then we lose each other;
It's like a children's game;
As I find you here again;
A thought runs through my mind;
Our love is like a circle;
Let's go 'round one more time.
Chorus

A request

I have a friend who I fear may be in bad trouble right now. She is already in a bad situation but I fear it may have gotten worse. If I could make a small request, could all of you send her as much blue and white light of healing as you possibly can. If you need a connection, send them to L. A. (Not Los Angeles, silly!)

Thank you.

She's safe for now, but please keep her inyour thoughts. She's still in a situation that could turn bad quickly.

I picked up a copy of Llewellyn's 2005 Witches Datebook, some good stuff in there. I needed a daybook for next year anyhow :)

Corrupting Christmas?

The longer I am a pagan the more I realize that I'm a soldier in an ideological war. I am starting to believe that being a pagan shouldn't just be about passively 'being good' but actively manipulating society.

One of the main creeds of Neo-Paganism is "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law, love is the law, love under will." I find many pagans have the love down pat but lack the will. I think we've also failed to acknowledge that the love and will of many people are, for lack of better word, corrupt. They cannot follow this creed because they've been taught to only love certain things and to ignore their will in favor of their wants.

Christianity is not the problem. Human nature is the problem and Christianity is a symptom. Christian ideology in many ways undermines pagan values and I think it's time pagans began to actively undermine the Christian values.

I believe Christmas is a good starting point. During the holidays, how many times have people asked you if you celebrated Christmas? This is, pardon me, a ridiculous question. Christmas is a pagan holiday. The date, the celebration of a god's birth, the festivities, and the trappings are ALL pagan. No real Christian should celebrate this day and many don't because of that very fact.

Yet, most pagans and Christians act as though Christians 'own' that holiday. Even pagans that intellectually know the truth just shrug their shoulders. Can we not muster a pinch of anger, of outrage, that a pagan holiday was coated with a thin slap of paint and then taken by a religion that seems filled with intolerance, spite, and self-denial? That later turned around and butchered the people they stole it from?

The real holiday is still there, however. It's not lurking under the service but shining through in the bright lights, revelry, and joy.

The next time you do to a mall, I want you to look at people's faces. Just watch them for awhile. Are they smiling? Laughing? Filled with cheer? No, the majority of them are frowning, sullen, and unhappy. Isn't that odd?

At my mall, they had a thirty-foot tall waterfall of blue icicles hanging from the ceiling that sparkled like cold fire. Did anyone look up? I and a few kids who were promptly dragged along by their parents. How can we be surrounded but gorgeous displays and the riches of the wealthiest nation on earth and still be miserable? It's because we're never able to stop and appreciate it. We always have to do but we can never just get drunk on life. It's all work for someone else and never pleasuring ourselves.

Christianity is anti-hedonistic. At some point someone sinned (does anyone truly believe that a God would damn the entire human race because two people ate an apple? A thought pettiness was a human trait.) so unless you follow a regimen of strict abstinence and work hard (giving a tenth of what you earn to the church, of course) you spend eternity crackling like fried bacon.

I will say this and perhaps someone will say I'm a bigot but that is the MOST FUCKED UP IDEA. I'll repeat, Christianity is sick.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think there's any one social group that can put a claim on the holiday any more, given how extremely commercial it is (or any holiday, for that matter). They can celebrate it as if it were their own, but instead of us getting angry about it, we should be flattered. Imitation is the best compliment one can recieve.

I think the reason that no one takes the time to enjoy the beautiful displays is because no one has time to, myself included. I manage a photography studio, and a lot of people get family portraits at this time of year. So, basically I spend my holidays catering to others to make theirs better. When I reflect at the end of a stressful, busy day, I have the feeling that I brightened someone else's by being there to help and to make their child smile. Those are the things that I can appreciate about the holidays, not the big fancy decorations.

I think my point (and train of thought) got lost somewhere up there... Sorry, I get off track a lot :)

LOL after re-reading your post, I realize that I just proved your point :eek:

So a friend was about to get a great new nanny position in a private home and when they saw her pentagram necklace on her visit to firm things up, they changed their mind and openly said it was because of her necklace that they did not want her.

If it were me, I wouldn't have had it on the outside. Too bad she didn't get the great job, but I sort of see their point. Luckily they didn't mention devil worship which is often mis-associated with a five point star.

You know, like all the stars on the American flag.
