Hello Authors,

I can't really call myself an author yet. I have a story written and need to find an editor before I submit it. I have been and continue to be an avid reader though.

I Thank You ALL for your work in writing and sharing your stories. I am beginning to have a new appreciation for what you do.

I have been crawling around various forums for the past two days. I mean just about all day both days. I'm starting to get familiar with a few things here.

If you look at my introduction in the editors forum and a few of my posts in various places, you'll know that I am a practicing Pagan. As part of my practice, I use and LOVE the tarot.

Although, I'm not quite on a level to start a business of doing tarot readings,I am an accomplished reader of the cards and the thought occurred to me that a tarot reading might help some of you who are struggling with writers block.

SO......I am offering FREE tarot readings to those of you who ask. It doesn't matter if you have a writers block or some other issue that you want to address. I'll be happy to read for you as my time allows.

I hope some of you will take me up on this offer. Just PM me and we will arrange your reading. You should plan about 15 minutes of unbroken concentration for your reading. I'll PM the reading results to you.

By this time, probably two thirds of you think that I'm "fruity as a nutcake." The rest of you are laughing your asses off, but I know there is at least one person out there that I can help.

Once again, I offer this totally free of charge. No fees, No "suggested gift" no other items that I am going to try to sell you, no anything like that.

Free means Free. Period. Free

Now tell me...Who do you know that doesn't like getting something free?

Blessings to all of you,

Popeye the Sailor Witch.

Hello Authors,

.

What you believe is what you believe. I respect that. But overcoming writer's block doesn't need 'magic', just application and having something to say. :)

SamScribble,

This has to do with insight and perspective. NOT magick. Tarot is an intuitive art, nothing more. If you choose to avail yourself of this tool, then great.

If you choose not to, that is your decision to make. I only offer a perspective. There are no magickal answers or solutions here.

I respect your opinion and your decision. I ask that you also respect my decisions and opinions.

My offer stands for anyone who thinks it might be worth a try.

After all, what have you to lose?

Blessings to you and yours,

Popeye

Actually, even as an atheist and 100% skeptic, I still use tarot sometimes for writer's block. It's extremely handy! The trick is to come up with the right question and don't overuse it. It works because tarot cards describe people, motivations, and events with emotional detail. You'll see your story through the lens of the reading, which helps you identify stuff you might not have noticed otherwise.

You can try asking things like:

"What is Character X's goal?"

"What happened to make this character the way he/she is?"

"Why isn't the relationship between Character X and Character Y working?"

"What is the overall plot arc?"

There are different types of readings too. If anyone wants to play around with it, I recommend facade dot com.

I've got quite a bit of experience reading tarot cards for myself - it's not always a reliable form of divination, but IME it's great for sifting thoughts.

You're right OliviaM,

It is all in the art of asking questions. Wrong question=useless response. Better question=more useful response.

"Will it rain today?" Answer: Yes. (somewhere on the planet)
"Will it rain in my town this afternoon during the ballgame?" (you'll get a more useful answer.)

I'm quite pleased to report that several authors have taken me up on my offer so far. We are arranging times for their readings.

I won't divulge who they are as that would not be ethical and also it would be rude to those people. Nonetheless, I'm happy for the opportunity to help.

I knew a girl in college who would use the cards to generate plots. She'd do that thing where you use ten cards, and try to imagine scenarios where the cards would come up in that sequence.

Based on the readings I've witnessed, I think that's what many readers do anyway. They just make you the main character.

Jehoram,

There are about as many ways one can use a tarot deck as there are readers. LOL.

Readers vary from very simple and basic to very sophisticated. I've seen readers at metaphysical fairs and similar events. Some of them seem to be "better" at it than others. Personally, I would not want to read in such an environment. The energy in the area is so chaotic that it is not conducive to a good reading. JMHO.

Each to their own way though. If it works for those people, who am I to argue?

The same thought applies with regard to whether you like tarot or don't. Each to their own.

Popeye.
