Our wonderful government in (non-)action.....

How does she keep her job?

Oh that's right she works for the Federal Reserve, so she isn't responsible to Congress only to the "Private Reserve" bank. but I'll bet she could give a mean blow job. Maybe the Senator should give her a chance at a "private briefing"?:)

Perhaps she's just embarrassed that the Fed is being forced to run around cleaning up Corporate America's shit. That really is the crux of the matter. Attacking the messenger serves a political purpose, but it does nothing to solve the problem.

Here is something new.

His true colors are showing and I'm sure we'll be seeing more and more in the future. No National Day of Prayer Celebration but and Gay and Lesbian Day of Celebration. Hmmmm

Obama seems to control what the media is allowed to show. So much for freedom of speech.

Pass this one on....this is a bomb!

The other way to look at it is the proper separation of church and state vs. the affirmation of basic human rights. :)

I know that this goes against the right wing fundie desires, but they'll have to take that up with those dudes that wrote the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence. ;)

It also strike me as funny that the self same people the scream and gnash their teeth over the horrible cost and abuse of power of President Obama taking his family along with him on Air Force One, thinks that it's just peachy to spend thousands of tax payer dollars to fly over their fundiefest.

Matthew 6:5

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Ok, back on subject... The Inspecter General was being asked questions that were the part of the job of another department. The Inspecter General only becomes involved in "Balance Sheet Issues" when directed to do so. Then the work is handed to staff auditors to do the actual "pick and shovel" work.

That said, there is another issue here. The Inspector General is the employee of the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve and specifically, the Chairman. What the congressman was asking her to do was rat out her boss for transaction that may or may not have been appropriate.

Her answer that the issues were "under investigation at the highest level" means to me that the Board of Directors are looking at the appropriatness and legality of these transaction, far above her level. Does this mean she is being ineffective or doesn't know her job?

She gave a poor account of herself whatever the case.

Have I got this wrong, but doesn't she report straight to the Board, independent of all executive departments and don't the 'staff auditors' come under her control.

Accepted that she is not employed as a whistleblower but should be more aware of the fiscal position of the Fed than she seemed. It is perfectly acceptable for her to say that 'we', the Fed board, do not think it appropriate/sensible to conduct a detailed audit at this point and it will be conducted in due course.

Appearing on the Hill, she seemed totally inadequately briefed.

In reality, she is an Accountant who works with financial statements. Accountants work "behind" that is in the past, not the present. As a grand senior she would not see anything until the work is done and ready for analysis.

True, she looked pretty stupid. And yes she reports to the full board, but the board is ruled with an iron fist by the Chairman who is the one responsible for these "off Balance Sheet" transactions. I'm not even sure how you do an off stament transaction. The money has to show up somewhere or something won't balance.

With the vast number of transactions that go through the Federal Reserve every day, I don't think 8 months is an unusually long time to untangle that kind of mess. Remember, it's been longer than a year to untangle the Madoff mess and it's still not quite clear what happened to all the money with far fewer transactions.

I don't know Jenny. I thought she was the inspector general of the federal reserve. I figured she was one of the top people. If she didn't have answers, who would? I'd like to know if Trillons of dollars were gone and noone could account for it. Even part of it.

On the other side. Obama can have his beer parties in the white house.
He can forget about a day of prayer (which we have always had) He can Harrah for the gays as much as he wants. He can forget about a fly over for the military if he choses. He can send or take his family whereever he wants.

After all he is the President and it's his choice. All I'm saying is I have a right to disagree with it. It's still free speech I think. If people are happy with him and his decisions and board of advisors, good for them. I for one am not.

Yup. You have every right to be a fundie homophobe. The Constitution and Bill of Rights grants you that. That is why I find it so amusing when you think that it is perfectly fine to withhold the exact same rights to the LGBTQ community.
