A Ceremony of Commitment
Between Lucky and Vella
Saturday June 4th, 2005.
Provincetown, Cape Cod, MA
In the presence of friends and loved ones
Introduction
When Lucky and Vella first asked me to preside over their commitment ceremony, I was overwhelmed – honoured – humbled – emotional - delighted.
As I thought about it, I realised what a responsibility this would be, to find the right words to imbue this moment in time with the aura of specialness that it deserves.
My hope is that today our love for them, both as individuals and as a couple, will enhance all the joy and contentment they take from this day, when, as friends:
~we will witness the vows of love that Lucky and Vella have written for each other;
~we will hear words of support and love from each other;
~we will witness as Lucky and Vella exchange rings.
And so, to begin………
“We are gathered here today……..”…. a cliché I know, but for the life of me, I can’t think of any words more appropriate to begin this occasion.
We are gathered here; to be willing, loving and honoured participants in a ceremony to celebrate and commemorate the love of Lucky and Vella - for each other.
To celebrate the love they have found together.
To celebrate a love that they have allowed us to share.
To celebrate their desire to be together in all the ways possible, for as long as their hearts and souls desire it.

Lucky and Vella exchange vows
Lucky and Vella have written their own vows of commitment. I now call on them to declare their love, to and for each other before those of us gathered here.
