Our Quality of Life is Declining

Amnesty just tells the next eleven million to "Come on In, the water's fine." You don't think that, "not paying taxes is a crime"? Try it.

What you're basically saying is that the Republicans should compromise and that compromise should be to give the other party everything it wants. Why then shouldn't we go to a one party government. We can call it 'The Party' and save a lot of money on elections.

Some would submit that save for the Tea Party and those nasty, brutish Conservative Christians, that we are already just about there; now if the Republicans can just succeed in their purge, then they will be relevant again.

THEN! we will have compromise.

(spelled: capitulation)

You'd have to admit that forcing Rapepublicans to actually compromise on something would be a refreshing change from the current state of affairs in Washington. Right now the prevailing notion seems to be that the majority party (Democrats) must do 100% of the compromisin' because the minority party can't compromise because of ideology and beliefs and God and stuff.

We've tried high walls. I'm much more pragmatic. If people complain that there are people in this country that are invisible and don't contribute, then make them visible and able to contribute. Not problem solved, but closer to problem not being an entirely unmanageable clusterfuck.

No, I'm not on the Democrats's side on a lot of things, but I think it's fair to say the Republicans have gone out of their way to obstruct Obama...because they said so.

The job of a polarized system is to gain the benefits from different points of view, not to mutilate each other and the constituency.

If you were to elect a mommy and a daddy their job is then to take care of the family. In this case mommy is claiming she's being abused and daddy is holding all the kids hostage and trying to claim mommy is crazy while waving a gun about. The kids...well...they haven't been able to go to school and haven't had a decent meal in a while.

I'm all for reasonable debate and reasonable legislation with reasonable compromise. But this atmosphere of competition instead of cooperation isn't doing any good other than for the folks on The Daily Show.

Because that stopped illegal immigration and fixed immigration problems forever. . . obviously.

Not to mention that the Democrats promised him that if he would compromise now, they would compromise later by closing the borders. But as we can clearly see, the Democrats had no intention what-so-ever of holding up their end of the compromise...

In the world as it used to be where words meant things, we would say that they lied to achieve their goal.

One could even say that they are still lying.

I thought the tea party was all about the free market? The free market is pushing for more immigration so that they can get low wage workers, and ideally pay them under minimum wage even.

Seems like you're caught in the middle on this one, AJ.

Reagan knew the illegal aliens in country had begun to broach minimum wage and saw a plan to lower farming wages and ensure qualified English speaking foremen and the like could guide this new coming wave of low income workers. Reagan's vision catapulted us to the upper levels of capitalism, thus bringing down communism in 1989.

Y/WIA.

JAJ:cool:

Notice how kbate and AJ can't bring themselves to actually type: "Reagan was wrong".

After the Obamacare debate in 2009, when they sat down for televised hearings to listen the republicans problems and end the obstruction and then used special procedure to pass it as written anyway, why would the republicans ever take the Reid Senate or the President at their word again?

The same thing is now the case on Immigration. Nobody wants to throw millions of working people out of the country. But one party just wants to open the flood gates and say, "Come on In", while the other wants to close it completely. Neither is going to deport anyone who is not a felon. What makes Immigration such a crisis that we cannot have reasoned debate on a permanent solution? Oh yeah - the 2014 elections. sorry, forgot that.

I've heard years of complaints of Obamacare, except it's being implemented in California and prices are going down. So could we give it a try before castrating it and then complaining it's got no potency?

I want to see someone DO something, not complain about how doing something results in stuff being done.

Why shouldn't there be amnesty for someone already here considering they haven't broken any laws and...well...they're here? Do you think not allowing them amnesty will make them go? It's a longstanding problem that we're not solving by holding our breath and calling immigration. It still takes a very long time and in the meantime they can legally do stuff like...pay taxes, and get a legal job and not contribute to a black market of labor abuse.

So refine the laws and stop obstructing them and stalling and extending and excepting. Let it have a chance to work before throttling all access to implementation funds.

^^^^^So it follows that if someone breaks in to your home or car or business there should be no consequences cuz, you know, theyre just trying to better themselves at your expense. A real Care Bear would leave a platter of sliced ham for them.

I did not say anything about getting rid of Obamacare. Don't try telling me I did - you're better than that. I said that the method of getting it passed is one of the reasons the republicans refuse to compromise. They tried and were kicked aside.

So after Amnesty - what will we have to DO something about next? End poverty with a new tax and pay plan? Do something about guns? Do something about more schools? Do something about energy?

When will the government have done enough?

No, they are not. The law is exacerbating the costs and having a drastic effect on employment (in the public sector too at the local level, as I posted a link to yesterday, but not at the National Level where they acted in haste and with great bipartisanship to protect themselves and their staffs from the effects).

One small localized example does not speak for a nation.

Pure Partisan vote, no compromise, that's nice Eric, but we won, don't tell us how to hold the mop, don't ask to get into the car...,

"When will the government have done enough?"

Never.

So let's get more examples, shall we? I'm just sick to death of shouts and screams of horror and death and despair. It's health care. Do it.

We went to war with less deliberation.

Obamacare was a republican idea. Newt was on board. They got exactly what they wanted in the first place.

You are still dumber than a box of rocks and are now trying to tell me what I think about Reagan?

I hated Reagan. I was still a big socialist-loving lib back then...

And Dick, just to prove how big of a man I am, I will freely admit that he was wrong. He was wrong to give them amnesty, it only brought in more and he was doubly for wrong for believing Democrats, people such as yourself, who think that if it is done in the name of Social Justice, then lying to the infidel is good and Holy.

Of course she remembers Reagan, he's been canonized.

Yeah, far too many people remember Norquist's bowdlerized version of St. Ronnie the Gipper.

It's the same thing with folks remembering Disney's sanitized version of Pochohantas, instead of the bloodthirsty Indian savage.

No. Obamacare only got one vote with no Republicans voting for it and the only discussion and debate was just window dressing in order to fool everyone into thinking that Democrats would actually reach across the aisle and listen to conservative market-oriented solutions, like allowing insurers to operate nationally the way car insurance works. See anyone pissed at Flo?

Democrats demanded, and got TWO votes on the war and it was a bipartisan "YES!"

And the fact that no Rapepublicans voted for Obamacare made it unConstitutional, amiright? AmIright? Right there in the Constitution! Page 6, article, um, 1100. FEDERALIST PAPERS! FEDERALIST PAPERS!

So it's easier to kill people than get them health care. We had trillions (oh wait, no we didn't...) for a war but...there's something wrong with that...hm...can't put my finger on it...
