Yes and the government needs to step in and find a solution and provide subsidies/resources to keep them there.

In major California cities, it’s mostly a law enforcement issue. Shoplifting isn’t considered a serious crime by police or by prosecutors. The law abiding residents in these neighborhoods suffer the consequences.

There are some rays of hope however. CA voters passed Prop 36 last year which reversed some of the insane provisions that had been passed by voters a decade or so ago under prop
47. And San Francisco’s new mayor is bringing some common sense reforms to the city.
