I hope you've got it on ice.

I do hope it's just a sprain, you might consider a visit to an x-ray technician to make sure.

elevate that ankle....and get it on ice....you may need and x-ray sweetie....hugsssssssss hope it feels better

Advice from an accident-prone kitten...

Ice and elevation for the first 24 hours. Keep the ice wrapped in a towel (a bag of frozen veggies workd best) and only on for about ten minutes at a time. Ibuprofine if you can take it will help as well.

A trip to the doctor is advisable. It make be broken or you may have damaged a ligament or tendon, either of which do not heal nicely alone. (Trust me on this one) Once you are certain nothing is broken, a compression bandage will help. Also switching to a WARM compress after the initial 24 will speed healing.

Good luck and fast healing!

Remember RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation
(at least i think that's how it goes)

thanx everyone... i do have it iced right now... and it's making me very cold.... but anyways.. it is elevated too... i'm just dreading working tomorrow (i cant get out of it without a doctor's note or anything like that) and i cant get to the doctor (damn parents think there's nothing wrong with me)...

*kisses scylis on the nose* but thanx all for the suggestions on what to do :)

aww sweetie. *bends down and kisses your ankle* i hope its just a sprain as well. Take good care of it and yourself. *hugs Willing*

well... i'm off to bed for tonite... hopefully the pain will subside by morning

*hugs everyone for being so helpful*

Be sure to take that ibuprofen or asprin--one pill every 2 hours is proven to be more effective than 2 every 4 hours--do it and don't bitch about it--take with caffienne also (it inreases the anagesic effect).

I would recommend against having it x-rayed if you can walk on it--in my years working trauma and ER and clinic--i have only seen one person walking on a broken ankle and the bitch was seriously fucked up---I am not sure what meds she expected to get since she had premedicated heavily before the accident.

If you can't walk on it tomorrow, then go in. Otherwise, do the elevation, take it easy as you can, and if you have supportive shoes (high-top sneaks or packers), wear those.

And take the anti-inflamatory drugs (not tylenol).

(If you do have it imaged--you can count on 50-200$ for the ER visit and at least 100$ for the x-rays and maybe another 20-40$ for the interpretation. It is best to wait and see your regular doc if you must have it seen.)

sheesh......thank the lord i live in canada.........you may need a second job too willing....hugsssssssssssssssss

These Days they go with RICED - D for Doctor.

Money sucks (and so do parents apparently) but get it checked somehow.
