I recall that in my neighborhood, there were several instances where girls could see naked boys but not vice versa. Do any of you feel that the double standard of boys vs. girls nudity contributed to kick starting your interest in BDSM?

I feel in my case that it did. We used to have a system on my block where the boys would pee in a large construction ditch, rather than go inside and interrupting their play. This gave the girls opportunity to see our penises, and they would often make a point of watching. Some were more forward than others, but I would estimate that every girl on the block had seen at least a few dicks by then end of summer. This affected the power dynamic, as the girls "knew something we didn't" and they would tease us repeatedly about it. I grew up in the city, if you pee in a ditch there you get carted away.

I also remember walking into the girls bathroom, opening a stall and getting a good look. I don't know if any girl ever got a look though.

I honestly don't see how peeing in a ditch, something millions of kids do every day, has anything to do with turning anyone on to BDSM... sorry... can't see it. Also don't see what kids seeing each other's anatomy has anything to do with anything... that also happens every day.

Feeling turned on from exposure...that sounds more like how you found out you were an exhibitionist and/or into self humiliation. That necessarily doesn't mean BDSM but can lead to it.

Personally I think the origins of BDSM lays in several categories.

Dom:
Ownership.
Power.
Sadism.
To please one self through fetish.
And oddly enough, take care of another.

Sub:
To be owned.
To be powerless.
Masochism.
To please one self through fetish.
And, to be taken care of.

You could come up with a reason but it probably falls under one of those categories. In your chase, it sounds like a form of masochism. Being turned on by your own misfortune.
