In reality, attacking someone who merely made a comment based on her personal viewpoint in regards to your sigline and to some off the wall comment made by you, in an open debate format, is just a way to breed contention directed toward you. Rather than discuss your feelings in regards to her opinion, you chose to make an uneducated and illogical assessment of her character. Which was woefully out of line and also very demeaning.

All this says to me and our fellow litizens, is that you have no personal dignity and have no respect for preserving the personal dignity of other authors on this site. In reality, that translates into a split in the road. You are going in one direction, while the "locals" go another. Ultimately, this will end in you leaving because you will be ignored (not with a button, but merely disregarded). Des, I have not been hateful, cruel, or vile. Until this thread and the comments made in open debate, I had been friendly and kind to NOmad. I even said how pedantic the whole thing is. I just went back and read this whole thread. NOmad made a comment, and Cloudy, playing devil's advocate said something intelligent, she is correct, an argument could be made that having two photos of oneself in their sig is vain. She wasn't yet being argumentative, just debating (as is the point of this thread) that his point in calling Pure vain (even in jest) could be considered basis for an argumentative.
Then, it degraded. He started typeifying people which as I mentioned smacks of a really bad thing. Rather than choose and educated argument, he started name calling and backing it up with groundless "facts."
So, yeah, we called him on it. I don't appreciate you or anyone saying heinous things about my character, when you don't know me, and haven't had any interaction with me. I have been around for a long time, but that doesn't give you or anyone else the right to judge my mind or my intentions when none of my posts have ever been unkind or "vile" as you like to say.

The point is people here are intelligent and should be able to disagree without getting personal and revert to name calling. When someone does, it can be pointed out with grace and the user made to see that behavior like that isn't tolerated. To respond by being equally mean (or worse) and having several people join you is bullying, as Roxanne said. It should be beneath people who use words for a living (or at least a serious hobby).
