Open-carry Texans confront each other over mattress - video

Dude, no.

You kill someone, and you still have to face the civil suit of wrongful death.

Which in all but the darkest blue states where victims are the bad guys and rapist/robbers who hurt themselves violating grandma can win big against her......they will sill have a much better odds at winning if the dead guy can't defend himself because dead.

The US isn’t China, where it’s less expensive to kill someone than to maim them.

From what I understand in most cases it is and it's less risky too for the criminal court, especially if there aren't any eye witnesses....dead men can't testify.

No difference between this and what happens on the streets of Chicago.

Except the whole gang factor and high degree of drive-by shootings.

But hey...don't let that stop you from saying more idiotic shit.

What?

Do you have anything to back up...whatever it is you just said?

And in a wrongful death lawsuit, a plaintiff’s odds of winning are smaller (a LOT smaller) if the defendant is not in fact dead, not greater, for reasons I hope are obvious.

Not always, especially if the circumstances are clear and the shooting is legal and it's even harder to defend one's innocence when your only testimony is a toe tag and a rap sheet a yard long.

Like what?

The numerous stories of CA, CO, NJ, IL and NY doing everything they can to support violent criminals re-victimize their victims in civil court?

Here is one list...dozens more on Google.

As for defending yourself in court, wouldn't it be better from the defenders perspective to not give the other guy a chance to testify against him?

Right but a wrongful death lawsuit should be easier beat after being acquitted of criminal charges than the suit for pain/suffering/XX million dollar hospital bills you incurred by permanently maiming the guy and having him up on the stand sharing his pity party and boo hoo's with everyone right? I mean he was just going to rough you up a little bit....no need to take his legs and force him to shit in a bag for the rest of his life right??

Wouldn't it?

I prefer to just fire up the excavator and avoid the whole issue.
