OOC/Casting Call: New medieval thread.

Take Two! ;)

If we don't have too many contributors, hopefully Garrel here is a little more suitable! :)

Garrel Brus
Age : 24
Hgt : 6'4"
Wgt : 245lbs
Hair : Short cut and light blonde
Eyes : Green

Garrel Brus was a Knight Martial, part of the warband of a local lord. Mostly he worked locally - upholding Imperial law by fighting in trials by combat on behalf of those unable to fight for themselves, as well as carrying out his duty to his lord by serving in the military.

Involved in a recent fight, about which he retains little memory, his Lord and battle brothers were killed, his home burned to the ground and the local people mostly killed or enslaved. Garrel was unhorsed and rendered unconscious during the battle - when he awoke he was the only living thing on the field.

He has been travelling south ever since, on the only horse left to him with only the clothes, armour and weapons he either had or scavenged on the battlefield.

In terms of outward appearance he is a tall, well built and fit man in his early to mid twenties. Although he's not a blundering oaf, he's trained to move and fight in plate armour, so he's not a lithe acrobat, and he's bulked up the muscle to carry all that metal effectively.

His equipment is of excellent quality, but poor repair. His armour is battered, missing a couple of pieces and scratched. His surcoat has been slightly scorched and also stained with blood from battle. His clothing is simple, the kind of garb any man can afford, although he does possess one set of courtly clothes that are already a season out of date and well, if too frequently, washed.

He has been trained in the courtly arts as well as the martial ones and is always impeccably mannered to those he considers social superiors. To those of his station or below he is more open and friendly - his work as a champion means that he is used to seeing those of lower station as individuals rather than goods or chattel.

Character?

New to this, but would enjoy trying. Let me know, if this is acceptable, PM me.

Zenae
Sorceress
5'10
36C
30" waist
Voluptuous, not thin, not fat
Red Hair, golden eyes with blue flecks
Around 30, but difficult to tell because of magic
Location: Travels from castle to castle as an experienced teacher of court magicians, mages, wizards, magik-folk...

Strengths: Verbal Charms, Earth spells, historic knowledge, master of languages, possible telepathy and Mind control(if that is to be allowed in the postings). Archery.

Weaknesses: Potions, chemistry, not what you would call a people person. She enjoys her work, and enjoys teaching, but has a gruff attitude that often makes people steer clear of her. Swordplay.

Past: Her father was a wizard, her mother a minor noble. Her mother died in childbirth and her father left her in the hands of a competent hedge witch. As she grew older her powers grew noticeable and she was taught the use of her gifts. Her father introduced her to the ways of education in her fields. She found that teaching the things she knew increased her own abilities. She has had several lovers, male and female, but none lasting
through her travels. She travels alone on horseback. She dresses in black and silver as befits her rank, black leather pants, vest and over shirt, trimmed in silver, soft black leather riding boots, and a simple silver band to keep her curls from her face.

This has been edited...thanks golden!

The characters all look good to me. Anyone have any problems with them?

And as for what you were saying about the thread belonging in ORP, yeah, it probably does, but all the writers are here (there doesn't seem to be enough in ORP to even starta decent new thread, save for those connected with the die-hards), and besides, we can find intersting ways to blend sex into the plot, so long as we don't lose sight of the plot in order to blend in sex. ORP doesn't quite leave room for such things.

Oh, well. We'll see what happens.

An Idea for geographys sake

to make this world a little more solid I thought it might be a good idea for people to list the places they mention in there posts, figure that way we could use each others places in the story and make every thing a bit more integrated.

Mt. Quaf: a mythical jade mountain said to be the resting place of enlightenment.

The Blue River: A sacred river near the Al-andus family estate

Besauld - a small colony near the eastern sea coast, known for their salt and spice trade.

Two things

One:
Let's get everyone in the castle on the same page in terms of time. I want to get the adventure at least begun in the next couple days, so let's all get to tomorrow morning by, well, tomorrow. Sound good? I have plans for before midday, so...

Two:
Carthon Manor (the castle and surrounding lands under Carthon rule) is a small estate of less than two-thousand acres existing in the Wild Lands, a nickname recieved during the period when it was first being explored. The Wild Lands consist of several, numbering possibly thirty, kingdoms (no census has ever been taken of the Wild Lands). The area is largely anonymous, as no one lord has taken any great claim over its surroundings, though competition has been downplayed, the kingdoms working more together for everyone's sake than against each other. The vast forrests that exist within the Wild Lands, however, have been known to hold secrets yet undiscovered, and are the home of several wild and dangerous types of creatures, including goblins, hobgoblins and rumored hellhounds.

How's that?

Sorry about the delay, btw, I was trying to come up with a good excuse to be there..

Character Change

No one seems to be interested in my character, I guess he doesn't fit, so I'm scrapping him and starting a new one. Every good story needs a villain, so here it is...

Name- Sethyrian
Age- unknown
Eyes- Black
Hair- Black (worn in LONG braids)
Height- 6'1" (21' in Dragon form)
Weight- 181 pounds (ALOT in Dragon form)

No one knows where the dark skinned mysterious stranger dressed in black comes from. Somewhere deep within him is a strange power. He is a calm, calculated leader, his words bearing immense weight. Any power he has seems to come not from a natural talent, but from experience beyond his years.

Unknown to the other characters (until he chooses to reveal his information), Sethyrian is a cursed being. Deep inside him is the essence of an evil Black Dragon. This essence gives him great power, and drives him to his ambitions. He has the ability to painfully transform himself into an Ebony Dragon, but can only keep this powerful form for a span of about 12 hours. Even when not in his Draconian form, his powers are great, mysterious, and unknown.

Why he has traveled to the Wild Lands is a mystery, but perhaps some artifact lies there that will add to his power and fulfill his self-imposed destiny of domination. Or perhaps... Seth is merely the servant of some greater power, a being with higher aspirations than his own...

Okay...the character sounds good, but bear in mind that because of his power, there are certain things that I'll insist on okaying before allowing you to do.
Cool?

New Character?

Is there room for another character?

Basic Premise:

Young man (early 20's) very poor going from town to town
Has magic abilities, but is unaware of them because he was raised by a family who was against magic.
Often makes things happen in fear or anger without being aware that he is the one causing them.
Wants to learn a trade, possible apprenticeship to blacksmith or other manual labor.

Looking forward to hearing an answer.

Okay, the summons is in. I figure you can write the parts where the guards find you and direct you to the dining room on your own, so long as everyone makes it there.
I need to know a few things. One: Nightingale, is your character evil? You can PM me the answer if you don't want it to be common knowledge. Deception can work well for characterization. But I need to know if he's going to play the part of "the villian" so i can gear things in the proper direction.
Here's my overall plot right now:

There are six maps, one leading to this powerful artifact (the one that can turn night into day and vice-versa--just a metaphor, but you understand), but Mostade, now deceased, is the only one who knows which is the real one. That means that they must figure ut which one is true, and I don't want that to be easy, or they must reach the end of each map until they find the object. We have plenty of characters, so it might work well for them to split up into two groups and search that way.
