ElfQuest is a role playing game produced by Chaosium and based on the Comic Series as you mentioned.
I didn't object to you having the mask, I objected to the fact that it wasn't made clear to us all that we could bring magical items into the campaign as 1st level characters and also it's not my call to say if you should or shouldn't have it that's the DM's.
I appreciate that many people don't have access to the AD&D rule set but it is an AD&D thread. I am happy to produce web pages with relevant information regarding the AD&D 1st Edition stuff.
In reality there is not much you can do in a thread based game in terms of actual melee, and stuff but the basic priniciples should still hold.
As I mentioned also, I agree with you, if it is going to be run AD&D style then AD&D rules should apply. If the thread is going to be just another Fantasy Role Play then as long as everyone is aware of the constraints I don't see a problem with that either.
Personally I think it is going to be tough going for players with little or no AD&D experience so it might be a case of dropping the AD&D and just role playing. Just as long as everyone knows.
I did start a thread some weeks ago offering to DM a true AD&D style campaign as I do have a lot of time to actually DM. usually all day on Sat and Sundays and also at least 5-6 hours on or off during the week + I am connected 24/7. and I feel it is the DM's responsibility to post at least as much as the combined input of the players interms of answering questions and plot building. Also the Dm should role play the NPC Characters that removes this abiguity of actions.
The PC should not have to role play the people he interacts with, I question that can be done impartially.
I did get some replies and PM's mostly concerned with the fact that it is AD&D so read from that what you can.
I know I am probably being disruptive, its not my intention to be so I just like to see the game run on a level playing field otherwise people will get fed up and wander off.
