Has anyone used LitLift or something similar?

I am trying to find an upgrade to Google Docs. I write on many systems so a standalone solution does not work. My stories are getting longer and now require more structure. I am forgetting the names of my characters. I even find myself changing them inadvertently.

I have used Scrivener, which I like.

This is brilliant! I've been sending emails to myself with notes and ideas. Then cutting them and pasting them into the main document. Only later did I realize that not everything was successfully transferred as I do most of it on the go via a smartphone. Thanks for sharing this.

I don't use Google Docs so I don't know anything about it. Can you have two docs open in Google Docs? If not, you could, and I have done this when I didn't want two Word docs open at the same time, add the character names and such to the end of the document. It's then there for easy reference while you write.

Usually I use a separate character doc, than not only includes names but other useful information about the story and what's going to happen, etc.

The LitFan site looks interesting, but as I don't write anywhere but at home, I'll keep using programs like Word and yWrite.

Yes, I can and have tried using multiple windows. I would prefer the indexing for positions of scenes and coordinated character descriptions. I just finished a story that I wrote flat out without chapter breaks. It was frustrating to try and locate certain elements in the 200 pages. I am getting greedy.
