...the airport?

In the context "I met them ** the airport"

This English amateur needs help.

My English writing guide provides no answer, and I see all of them in use when I look for what others have written.

What ya suggest?

"I met them at the airport"

In or at if you actually met them in the terminal building

by is more like a rendezvous at a closely located motel with hourly rates

In it is then. Ta!

I picked them up at the airport.

We met inside the terminal.

I met them on the airport, but then the wind blew us off
I met them in the airport and chased them through the metal detectors
I met them at the airport, but it was the wrong airport so we quickly left
I met them by the airport and we almost got clipped by the wing of a jet

:D

At would be the one most would be comfortable with liar. It may not be gramatically correct, but in the vernacular I've never heard on or in in that context.
