There was a gasp from behind the lovely living weapon as Jasleth's eyes flew open, his mind and perceptions almost slammed back into him from the astral place. "Great Goddess of the Earth..." He leaned heavily on his staff for a few moments, breathing as hard as if he'd just run a mile.
He patted himself down a moment. Everything was where he'd left it. That was good, anyway. "Seven.! I mean...there's seven pieces of it. I can't track them, but they're here."
Jasleth jerked himself up, yanking his staff out of the cobblestones. A few pebbles and flakes of rock skittered over the flagstones as he did so, his eyes already looking. "There's a piece of it here, nearby. Something small has it. A halfling, a gnome, a kobold, a goblin...something like that."
He looked over at her, making a few decisions. "I don't have a lot of money...but all that I do have is yours, if you'll help me. And more when I can get it." So far, she'd been kind. But this may require more than kindness on his part. She was a mercenary after all, and the only loyal mercenary was a paid one. "What do you say?"
