There was a gasp from behind the lovely living weapon as Jasleth's eyes flew open, his mind and perceptions almost slammed back into him from the astral place. "Great Goddess of the Earth..." He leaned heavily on his staff for a few moments, breathing as hard as if he'd just run a mile.

He patted himself down a moment. Everything was where he'd left it. That was good, anyway. "Seven.! I mean...there's seven pieces of it. I can't track them, but they're here."

Jasleth jerked himself up, yanking his staff out of the cobblestones. A few pebbles and flakes of rock skittered over the flagstones as he did so, his eyes already looking. "There's a piece of it here, nearby. Something small has it. A halfling, a gnome, a kobold, a goblin...something like that."

He looked over at her, making a few decisions. "I don't have a lot of money...but all that I do have is yours, if you'll help me. And more when I can get it." So far, she'd been kind. But this may require more than kindness on his part. She was a mercenary after all, and the only loyal mercenary was a paid one. "What do you say?"

Anika´s eyes went up from her food to the new arrival the moment silence took over the whole tavern. She didn´t stop eating, mind you, Dwarves are not so easily distracted from their goals as other races. But she had to admit that she understood why everyone else seemed so impressed about the town guard that had just come in... if he was a town guard. The few Anika had seen so far did not look like warriors, that is, like the kind of man you would find in the frontline of true, all-out war. But this man did.

When the Dwarf reached for her ale, to have another sip, she found that her movements felt strangely slow to her. That was rather worrying, she mused as her eyes found the wicked-looking blade the strange armoured man carried. And she was definitely very, very alarmed when he reached for it, and she found her movements were definitely being impeded. And judging by the slow actions of everybody else in the inn, Anika was not the only one having this problem.

Sorcery.... It was obvious to her. The rune priests of the Dwarves had their own magic to bring forth into battle, so Anika was not completely oblivious to its existence. But she did find it extremely unsettling to be on the receiving end of it.

However, the man with the ram-horned helm nodded... and suddenly, Anika found her movements fast as they should be again. Her attention was on the armoured man and the others in the inn, though, so she did not notice this. All she knew, was that at least she could move normally. And being a Dwarf, Anika Makaisson did not waste her time. Her gauntleted hand descended to the holster on her waist, and drew her handgun with purposeful gestures.

The six-shot was a revolver kind of weapon, with a good, reliable iron handle and mechanism, a long barrel to guide the projectiles, and perfectly aligned sights. Anika´s weapon then rested on top of the table. She was a Dwarf, not a belicose fool. If the armoured man did not intend to cause harm to anyone in the tavern, there was no reason to shoot. But damn if a Dwarf was not ready to do what a Dwarf ought to do, when she had the chance.

Leovin was in the middle of eating as the doors burst open. He turned quickly to look. He saw the strange, menacing man and his gut told him something was up. He immediately drew a knife in the blink of an eye from within his leather vest. As he did, suddenly everything started to feel slowed down. He could no longer think straight.

His eyes remained on the strange figure now in the middle of the room. he had a sick feeling that something was wrong. He'd always hated magic and we never good against it. Just as suddenly as before, he was freed from the slow feeling and could think properly again. He concealed the knife in his sleeve, ready to throw in an instant. He looked for a weak point in the armour of the stranger. He noticed in his peripheral vision that the woman who he'd spoken to was also moving normally. As was the man with the horned help in the corner. The stranger in the middle of the room seemed to be heading toward Irisi. Leo stood in front of her, blocking the path, and ready to fight.

Just as Irisi finished speaking to Leovin, she noticed the door to the Inn open, she almost visibly shuddered when the "town guard" if you could cal him that walked through the door. With his strange Armour and helm without sights she was more inclined to think him a "Dark Knight" more then a mere guard.

She was about to turn back to Leovin when it hit her, the spell, time stop, all of her movements seemed sluggish and slow, everyone one around her seemed to be equally effected. Except the warrior with the horned helm that stood near the woman who had spoken to Leovin earlier.

She caught the man nod first at the woman, then at Leovin and then at herself, all of a sudden the spell was lifted. Before she had time to ponder why a stranger would help her she caught movement from the corner of her eye. Leovin had stood up.

Before he stood in front of her Irisi caught a glimpse of the strangely armored man coming in her direction. Leovin quickly stood in front of her and prepared to fight.

Putting her hand on his waist she slowly stood up behind him "you may not be as equipped as I for this fight, unless you know magic and just have not told me so?"

Not being as brazen or stupid as to step out in front of Leovin Irisi instead started taking a mental note of the chants and incantations she had done this morning, not knowing what the day would bring she had meditated on several.

If the need arose she would be ready. Slowly she cleared her mind as she prepared to touch the divine magic around her.

Reika blinked, then nodded. She could handle a job. And even if she wasn't sure what he wanted from her, they could negotiate. THAT she could do without sounding like an incompetent. "Very well, milord," she said. "Though I will not take all the money you have - I'm a fighter, not a thief," she added with a raised eyebrow at him. "And we can negotiate once I find out exactly what it is you'll need me to do." Her eyes travelled around the square, lingering on the woman on the wagon for a moment before returning to her new employer.

"I have terms, naturally, and they are short. I will do nothing that is not honorable, I will kill only those that deserve killing, and I will not harm a child under any circumstances. You may direct me in any fight or task you like, but our business contract does not give you any rights to my person." Lots of men had thought that because her sword was for sale, that meant she was too. And though she hadn't killed them, they learned quickly - and hard - that "female mercenary" wasn't just another word for "prostitute". Reika slung her naginata onto her shoulder, looking steadily at him. "If you can agree to those, then my weapons are yours for the term of our contract." The final words were, in essence, a binding. Perhaps foolish of her, with no money being exchanged. But she needed work, and this felt right. And one of the first military men she'd worked with had told her something valuable. "Act in trust, and if you find your trust betrayed, act again to counter it."

Those who couldn't trust others, after all, were usually the least trustworthy themselves. Looking around, Reika sighed internally. The street was busy, and she couldn't see a thing that wasn't at least human-high around them. Well, she wouldn't be able to prove her worth directly. "I also have a question, milord. There is a woman, on a wagon, near the corner. Did you sense anything about her during your search?"

Jasleth nodded. This was no small thing to do, she took it seriously. Good then. "Then we are agreed. The job is this: help me find the pieces of this artifact and keep me alive while I'm doing it." He reached into his pouch, taking out a small handful of silver coins and pressing them into her hand. "A down payment. Now...right around here, there should be a small humanoid...a halfing, gnome, or perhaps a goblin. They have the first piece. Let's find them, and...a woman?"

He only really heard that part of her speech now. He silently berated himself, he got so focused sometimes. "I didn't look for her, I'm afraid, so no. The spell was a focused only on the artifact."

Jasleth craned his head around Reika to take a look. He felt a shiver run up his spine as he took in the sight of the sinisterly garbed woman. "...I can tell she takes herself very seriously and probably gets cold in that outfit," he quipped absent mindedly. There was something wrong here. Something very wrong. "I am also sure that her presence here is not a coincidence."

He turned, "We need to find those pieces now, I'm sure of it. Come on, let's find this little one and see if we can't convince it to hand the item over." He paused a moment, smaching his forehead with the heel of his palm. "Ah! I'm a fool, forgive me." He turned to her, bowing slightly, "My name is Jasleth Aurelius, and I"m pleased to meet you. Shall we?"

Morgus - "I would need to know how your feeling to answer that, dark one..."The goblin affixes the hat back into position on his head... an odd air of authority about him as he does so. Then brushing some dust off of his leather jerkin before continuing... "You no doubt have questions... and wish to know who I am and how i know you... all that will have to wait, since weve wasted so much time as it is. All you need know... is that i am a friend and that you may trust me...even if it is not in your nature to do so...i suggest you do. Your life depends on it."

He drops to one knee and begins fishing in his knapsack... "I have something for you... but before i give it to you... you must know that this is no mere trinket... and you must keep it with you at all times... the sky has fallen Morgus," he says your name with emphasis... pointing out that he knows more about you than you him... "and playtime is over."

He pulls out a small coin shaped object, at first you think its a joke but at closer examination you see that the metalic surface is throbbing...writhing, as if it were a creature of some sort. The darkness inside you hisses as if repelled by it...but only momentarilly.

He places it in his palm and holds it out to you...

"Life is a choice my friend.... every moment and every second. Remember these words."

Jasleth & Reika - When it is made clear that Jasleth seeks an individual of small stature, you both, as you glance about and make your arrangements, notice the goblin that was previously on stage as you entered the town and the inn, now holding something out towards one of the men that was a patron of the pub as the two of you were earlier. They appear to be talking though you cannot hear what is being said, they are close but there is too much chatter around you.

As you talk, you notice the stange woman on the coach retreats to the confines of the carriage and an armored knight..much like the others..only this one wearing armor trimmed with shining silver runes and deep red hexagrams, takes the reins and cracks them.

Their troops stay behind....apparently in search of something, but the carriage heads into the red sign district, through thick crowds of wagons and pedestrians.

Anika, Leovin & Irisi - With Leovin blocking his way, the macabre looking knight/gaurd stops a yard or so away from Irisi. For a moment the strange sensation returns but then as if a twinge from a headache, it is gone and no stange effects take hold.

All in the Inn watch but in a slow, almost enchanted, way.

You see a thick black mist eminates from its mouth, not shooting out... just breathed out... then dissappearing into the air. It groans an unearthly resonance that none of you have ever heard before...

(Anika you instantly notice this to be the burning residue of fuel... from the smell, color, and the amount of time it takes to dissappear into the air. Also Anika you can swear you hear gears, tho they would have to be extremely small and quiet if thats what they are.)

You wonder what manner of thing this is as it reaches out to grab Leovin, with a thick plated hand.

The man in horns, still seated in the corner of the room leaps up sword slashing through the air, at the same time the dark gaurd waves his other arm, without taking his "eyes" off Leovin and Irisi, meeting the blade in mid air. The broad sword connects with the creature's arm and a loud clang is the result... the horned man is sent flying back into his table, as it splinters...

"DO NOT LET HIM TOUCH YOU!," he yells as he falls through the air.

Leo nodded slightly to Irisi as she stood behind him and basicly told him that he was crazy for standing in front of her. Yet he did not move. The strange thing stood in front of him and he felt the strange effects for just a moment. His eyes never left possible assailant.

It seemed to breath a black misty cloud and let out a strange noise. Leo prepared himself both to move and to attack if he needed to. His hands open and ready to take a knife and throw it. As it stood close Leo could also hear something strange, metallic, unlike anything he'd ever heard before. It was very faint and seemed to come from the thing or person in front of him. (If a dwarf could hear it from a little farther away, a half-elf could definitely hear it, just not know what it is.)

Leo started to feel as if this was no person, at least no normal being. Just as he wondered what it was, it started reaching out toward him. At the same moment he saw the man with the horned helm leap at the strange thing out of the corner of his eye. The thing's other arm went up instantly. Sword met arm with a large clang and the thing didn't even seem to notice.

As the horned helm man crashed into his table he called out not to let it touch them. Leo didn't think, he reacted. The hand was getting near him, he had no time. He turned slightly, grabbed Irisi and then launched himself to one side toward the bar, bringing Irisi with him.

The moment he landed he turned back to the thing. As he did he called out, "Get behind the bar!" His hand moved in the blink of an eye and drew a knife. Continuing the motion of pulling it from it's hiding place, his hand extended and the knife flew out of his hand toward the thing. Leo was aiming at the joint under it's arm which still seemed to be extended because of it's slow movements. From his spot on the ground he felt that it might be the place where he could do the most damage. There did not seem to be many other places he knife could penetrate. He wasn't even sure if it would do anything there, even if he got in a perfect shot.

Anika was frozen in amazement at what she had just seen. Burning fuel inside a suit of armour? Did that mean there was an engine inside that? And the sound of gears... it was simply too unbelievable, and yet, there it was. Someone had, at the very least, put an engine inside a suit of armour. And made it powerful enough to make another man sail through the air. Also, it seemed it was trying to take the woman sitting by the half-elf.

Protecting a woman was a good excuse to have a look at that suit of armour. Anika stood up, leaving her food and ale on the table, and inmediately grabbed a handful of bullets out of one of her pouches. With the excitement, a couple of them fell onto the table, but there was little time to act, she observed, as the half-elf started fighting the armoured guard. With her other hand, Anika reached for her handgun, at the same time she checked that her rifle was still safe on her back. With a clicking sound, she opened the drum chamber, the whole front part of the gun collapsing forwards. With carefully practiced skills, Anika slid bullet after bullet into the drum, pulled the whole piece back into place, and aimed at the armoured suit´s head, figuring that whatever was moving it, be it man or machine, would be inside the helm.

Waiting for a chance, Anika braced herself for the recoil and the cloud of gunpowder smoke that would blast out of her handgun, and aimed down the sights at the thing´s head. She even made sure there would be no one in the middle that might get pierced through by the bullet before firing...

Irisi

Irisi was in shock, had she heard an inhuman noise come from that guard? Before she had time to react black smoke started seeping out of the 'man'. This if it was magic was nothing that she had ever seen before.

Just then she caught the horn helmed man swing his sword and the dark stranger raise his arm the clank was an alarming sound. He seemed to not feel the impact of the weapon as the horn helmed man flew through the air splintering his table on impact. He had screamed not to let the thing touch them.

before she could react Leovin had her and was propelling them towards the bar. When he said they would be safest behind the bar she did not hesitate instead she slid behind the little protection it offered.

That is when she noticed the woman who had been speaking to Leovin loading a revolver and taking aim with it. This was getting out of hand, who was this man and why did it seem that he was after her????

After she'd dropped the silver into her pouch, Reika bowed in return, shifting the polearm off her shoulder before beginning the motion. "I am Reika Yamato, Lord Aurelius. And yes, we should . . . ." Her voice trailed off as a parting in the swirl of people showed her a flash of a goblin holding up an item to a man in dark armor. Hissing, she swore under her breath, before shifting her grip on the naginata to a more braced, ready grip. "I believe we've found it, milord."

Without really waiting for him to follow, she pushed her way through the crowd, angling towards the pair. Motion from the other side of the street caught her eye for a moment, and she swore again. "Bags and buttered onions!" The men passing blinked and looked at her, astonished to hear an oath like that from a woman, and the few women passing sniffed disdainfully. Looking back and forth between the tableau and the vanishing wagon, she sighed. She'd been paid to help find this damnedable artifact, whatever it was, and there was a piece almost certainly in front of her. And whether or not that strange woman was connected wasn't sure.

There was no choice. Pulling her scaled gloves from her belt and tugging them on one at a time, she approached the pair stealthily. Gods above, why did her head hurt like this? It felt like there was someone playing a song that was just out of the range of sound, siliding around notes that fit together. It set her teeth on edge.

Jasleth followed in Reika's wake, halting for a split second as she swore. If that was swearing. Still, the amount of heat in it was impressive. He blinked for a few moments, then pushed on.

This was wrong. This whole thing. His intuition was screaming at him. What it was saying, he wasn't sure. But...something was going to happen. Something dire. Maybe not. Hopefully not. But he had a very bad feeling.

He caught sight of the goblin Reika had seen. It was standing with a grim looking warrior who had some potent magic of his own. The small creature was speaking, and held out it's hand...and he gasped. That was it! It must be! "Wait!" Jasleth pushed past a few more people, moving to be beside the red headed arsenal he'd hired, "Wait, please don't touch that! I'm not sure what it will do, sir, but that item could be extremely hazardous."

"Life is a choice my friend.... every moment and every second. Remember these words."

After a moment of repulsion the strange-looking coin seemd to beckon to him, as if wanting him to take it.

"Wait, please don't touch that! I'm not sure what it will do, sir, but that item could be extremely hazardous."

Morgus turned his head to see a rather large (not fat, just large) woman coming at him with some sort of polearm drawn. One thing for sure - she wasn't about to give him the bath he so desperately needed. The man who shouted to him was following her dressed in robes. A wizard!

The warning he gave was far too late. The magical artifact was now in Morgus' hand. He let his pack fall to the ground and quickly placed the coin in his belt pouch. If it was a fight she wanted, a fight she was going to get. Reaching for his zweihander, he drew on the darkness inside of him. Years of discipline allowed him to resist the perverted ecstasy of the power flowing through him and the muscles concealed beneath his armor bulged. He was now ready to meet this bitch head on!

Reika stopped moving as the man in armor went for his sword. Oh, brilliant. Yet another moron who kept their brains sheathed with their swords. And the goblin was edging away, trying to keep an eye on her as he scooted towards the crowd. She looked at the armored man almost dismissively. "Hold on a second, lad, I've got something to take care of." Reaching out with the butt of the naginata, she rapped the goblin sharply on the head. He tumbled to the ground and she turned to her new employer. "If he had one piece, he may know where the others are. If you want to find out about it, milord, you may want to take custody of him."

She turned back to the man in armor, sighing interally. "It wasn't my intention to fight you, sir. My employer and I merely wanted to prevent you from making a foolish choice - the artifact the little green fellow gave you might be deadly dangerous." Adjusting her grip on the naginata, she set herself in a ready stance. "But if you insist - perhaps because you think I'll be an easy opponent - I'll be more than happy to prove to you how very, very foolish that is."

Jasleth rolled his eyes. Warriors. They all thought with their biceps or their blades. Reika seemed a little better than that...though he hoped she hadn't harmed the goblin too much. If he was unconscious or had a broken skull he couldn't answer any questions. "Wonderful. More and more complications," he muttered.

Jasleth all but ignored the dark armored man, kneeling down beside the goblin. "It'd be best if we could avoid and incidental violence for the moment. I suspect we're racing against a clock here, even if we have no way of knowing if we're winning or not." He looked back at Reika, "If he insists, do make it quick." That might help a bit also. Not being directly challenging, but also letting this aggressive fellow know that; a, they weren't afraid of him, and b, that fighting him was not a priority for them.

Looking down at the goblin, Jasleth smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry for the blow, friend, but we couldn't risk you getting away. I'd like to have a chat about exactly what it was you gave that man, and where the others like it are. I'd also be quick about it were I you. There are others looking...and they're not nearly as nice as we are."

Anika, Leovin & Irisi - Leovin's knife, connecting with its target underneath the creature's arm and above its heavy breastplate, resounds in a similiar clanging sound as did the horned man's sword. It seems to penetrate however, hanging under his arm, presumably inside his armpit for several moments before sliding out and falling to the floor... as if there were no flesh underneath to stick into.

The creature groans again, only now in a way that can only be described as painfully, before reaching with its other arm to the handle of its large, cerated sword on its back. Its motions are nowhere near as smooth or fluid as any of you, your not sure if this is cause of the effects you felt earlier or some other reason.

Raising from his position on the floor, the horned merc. coughs and gets to one knee, looking around for his sword he notices it is several meters away and instead pulls out a shorter one from his boot. His eyes falling on the inhuman gaurd.

A loud boom is heard, not the same kind of sound from the unleashing of a pyro spell but the sound of gunpowder lighting withen a firearm, sending a carefully aimed bullet sailing through the air. Anika's shot connects with the creature's helm, puncturing it and exiting someplace on its other side. Out of both holes a small amount of the smoke that was viewed earlier begins to poor out. Its eyes flash gold breifly and then go dim.

It turns its attention to Anika... its emense sword fully in hand. It wields the weapon wich is clearly a two handed one, easily with one arm. It seems to be largely unaffected by the headwound as far as anyone can tell.

Behind the bar Irisi you notice the bartender and a barmaid cowering, they are still under the effects of the strangeness you experienced earlier. Their heads turn in your direction in slow motion.

Jasleth, Reika & Morgus - A boom is heard as Reika strikes the goblin and he falls to the ground, it is clearly coming from up on the sidewalk and inside the inn.

The small demi human gets up, shaking his head and holding a large bump on it, he searches around, fumbling as if in the dark for his hat. Finding it he shakes it off... calmly and looks up at Jasleth...

"Finnally... one with brains," he regards the two combatants about to enter a fray with one another as he speaks quietly and subdued "you know, Jasleth...," again the creature seems to know much "Luck just isnt on my side today, maybe had i found YOU first, some headstrong female humaaan wouldnt of split my brain box open."

He leans on Jasleth's leg for support and rises.

"Your more right and wrong than you know... there is no time for any of that... here, take it... your choice was already made... YOU only have to claim your destiny."

He digs in his pocket...pulling out another object. In his palm you see a similiar artifact...pulsing and writhing with power and mysticism with your mind's eye.

"Decisions decisions, eh? Im sure you heard the noise... as did I, take this... dont take it... stop these two fools from killing each other... race and find the origin of that sound.... i dont envy you. ANY of you."

(Jasleth being closer to the Inn you also now sense a faint sense of magick, its hidden but not entirely... its coming from the direction of the sound... you dont know the magick is inside the inn though at this point, only the shot)

Leo watched as his knife struck its target. It entered, but then fell out as if it had just been sitting between some pieces of metal. He realised that tehre was nothing under the armour there. Yet it had to have a weak point. He drew two more knives, one in each hand. That was whent the boom was heard.

Leo looked over quickly to see the source. The woman with the strange weapon had used it. He now knew what it was. He'd seen a dwarven gun before, just never one like that. He'd only seen dwarves with them. He wondered if that woman was indeed a dwarf. Yet those were thoughts for later.

He turned back to their enemy and saw a hole in it's head with some smoke coming out. He decided that it would be as goos a spot as any to attack again. It turned to the possibly dwarven woman and he took just a second to move around to teh side of the thing as it wielded its sword. Once he had the best angle he threw a knife at the hole in the head of the thing. He hoped to expand the hole if nothing else. He also threw another knife at where the help met the rest of the armour, trying anything to damage the thing.

There was no hesitation. "If you know who I am, then you know I am used to heavy burdens and duties." The young duke-in-exile took the object, feeling a tremor run through his very being as his fingers came into contact with it. He smiled a bit ruefully. Whatever was going on...he was hip deep in it now. "I apologize for being demanding, but you're also not being helpful with your information. You know exactly what's happening here, so why don't you tell me?"

He looked over at the inn. It had been full of people. The Mercenaries within might have sins to pay for, but the innkeeper, his family, and staff...damn. "All right, friend." Jasleth took a firm hold of the goblin's shirt. "Please stick with us until this initial crises is past. I will do my best to keep you safe." He looked back, "Reika, don't bother with him now. We're going to see what that blast was about. I have a feeling this is all connected somehow."

Of course the shot failed to slay the machine. Being an engineer, Anika should have known she was aiming at the wrong part. The head, as she had noticed earlier, was working as its exhaust pipe. The weak point had to be somewhere in the torso, where there was space for all the machinery. The problem, of course, was that the armour there was stronger.

But if her pistol had pierced through the head, then it might be able to go through the breastplate!

Anika took aim again through the foggy residue of gunpowder in the air, right at the walking suit´s stomach, not trusting the heart to be the weakest part after the shot in the head failed. She aimed, fired, and lowered herself to a knee as she fired shot after shot, using her new posture to aim and steady herself properly both to support her weapon well, and to take the recoil more easily. If it came to the worst, Anika still had her rifle slung on her shoulder, and her gromril armour to protect her. The best of the Dwarves´ world in the battlefield now put to test against a machine.

The irony was somewhat lost to her, though, as the engineer frowned and re-aimed...

Not letting go of his power, Morgus kept his hand on his sword. She may have told him she wasn't after him, but he wasn't about to give her an inch of trust.

*BANG*

His attention was diverted to the sudden sound. It seemed to have come from the inn he just left - and in the general direction of that other dark power! That must be where it was coming from! Something big was going on in there.

He heard the wizard tell the bitch, "Reika, don't bother with him now. We're going to see what that blast was about. I have a feeling this is all connected somehow."

As he watched the two of them head towards the inn, he decided this was the best answer he was going to get, and started follwing them slowly.

*BANG!*

Reika nodded, shouldered her naginata and looked back at Jasleth. "As you wish it, milord." Bowing once, almost mockingly, to the man in armor, she turned away to follow the mage. Those noises were rather ominous, and if they were related . . . well, the fact that the trollop on the wagon was sending around soldiers, followed by those blasts, didn't feel like coincidence to her. And she wasn't even a magic worker.

Deciding that, perhaps, in an inn, the long weapon wouldn't be best, Reika pulled a small strap from her pouch, using tight, quick knots to fasten it to the naginata and pulled it over her head, lying across her back. Instead, she reached for the sheaths at her waist, pulling out the two bladed tonfa. "Let us go see, then, milord. I believe I'm prepared now for whatever is prepared."

Irisi

Irisi noticed Leovin's knife dig deep under the guards arm from her place behind the bar, she was shocked still when nothing more the clang come of the blow.

Then the woman shot the guard in the head and smoke poured out. What was this being? Why was it here? Who was it after? All these thoughts ran through Irisi's mind as she turned and noticed the bartender and his wife cowering behind the bar.

As they turned to look at her she noticed that their movements were still in slow motion, the spell most not have been lifted from everyone in the room. And at this point she was very glad it was not the last thing they all needed was a lot of scared peopling trying to flee. Or even worse would be hero's trying to fight the mysterious guard.

The sound of more gun fire pulled Irisi from her thoughts as the woman dropped down and shot bullet after bullet into the guard stomach. From what she could tell it did not seem to be doing any more good then the knife, sword or shot to the head.

The sky hangs heavy above the town... the clouds darken and the night that threatened to fall is definately here. As if summoned by the devil him... herself. Thunder crackles as lightning begins to flash... something strange fills the air... your blood... your soul... something very wrong...

Leovin, Anika, & Irisi - Levoin's weapons connect, the armor of the creature is struck exactly between where the helm and its neck piece/breast plate meet and a sickening clank is heard. The Blade digs deep, wedged inbetween the metal. Several whirring and disturbing popping noises follow. The other knife also arriving on target slips into the hole, causing it to widen as intended. This weapon also apparently secured in its heavy plate armor.

Anika's second shot is placed even more finely than the first... and all that follow connect with the behemoth's stomach plate. A runed piece of armor that has no seperation from its chestpiece, save for at the exact waist where it winds all the way around. Round after round assault it, several piercing the thing, and several imbedding inside it.

Half way through the shots, after maybe a third or forth... its arm fully outstretched brandishing its large unholy looking blade, it arcs back, ready to cleave in Anika's direction and stops suddenly..mechanically. The arm hangs in the air... as if frozen in time. Its blade still in hand.

The creature's head shifts, in a jerking motion, attempting to turn but is impeaded by Leovin's knife. It attempts again, and the whirring continues as more black residue rises into the air... making it slightly thicker. A loud fracture is heard deep inside the thing and through the bullet holes more black emissions spew.

Irisi you notice suddenly, in time with the large armored creatures impending demise that the townsfolk behind the bar begin screaming. They move normally now and the woman rushes you, clinging to an arm, not meaning to startle you, you realize all this has happened in the blink of an eye for her, but seeking protection. She begs you for that much and you see the bartender reaching for an axe he has behind the counter. Out the window.. you can notice, since everyone else is in combat... that the sky is darkening...rapidly.

The warrior in a horned helm lunges, his blade aglow with magickal light as he swings in a downward and wide arc, it connects with the shoulder of the gaurd and digs several inches in, also now stuck he curses as he attempts to pull it out breifly and then resigns the idea... letting it go.

With its other arm and hand, and without looking the creature holds a palm out, facing no one's general direction. From the center of its palm a light is seen for a moment before a large blast of light expands and fills much of the room in the blink of an eye.

(Leovin and Anika... you two are now blind... and you suspect the horned gentleman is as well since he is also hit by the wave of light. It is the last thing you see. Leovin and Irisi... with your keen hearing you can swear you hear the faint flapping of wings in the distance.)

Behind the bar Irisi you manage to not be struck by the strange wave of energy.

Jasleth, Morgus & Reika - (Jasleth and Morgus... as you hold the objects, the artifacts... you feel a surge of optimism like you have never felt in your life. All things are possible... as least, that is how you feel. Power... Dark for you Morgus, Arcane for you Jasleth... flows into your bodies in an instant. Then you feel normal... and the sensation is gone.)

The goblin looks up at Jasleth after being asked of giving more information "There are rules to every game Humaan... every game. Go, do what heroes do. I will follow."

(Jasleth your Third eye lets you know that some strange form of magick IS being utilized inside the inn now as you approach it.)

The short green demi-human passes Reika as the group of you open the door to the inn and keeps a hand on his head... his eyes wide and frightened.

As the door to the establishment is opened the sky darkens futher... inside you are immediately greeted with a wall of patrons that are huddled against one of the corners of the ante-room.

Inside you see the reason for this fear, the smell of ash and battle fill your nostrils. There are some people behind the bar... one of those strange gaurds from outside (the one you saw enter Reika) and several of the patrons that were inside here earlier with you. The gaurd is sparking, black mist pouring from its body and a bastard sword protruding from its left shoulder. Its head and neck are wearing knives and its arm is poised to attack a kneeling combatant... or so it seems to you.

(Guys you basically see everyone else's character so im not gonna go and describe em again :) just back track if you want a refresher...)

A warrior wearing a ram horned helmet that barely lets the rest of his face be viewed is clutching his eyes with his back against a wall... rubbing them.

The dining area of the inn is nearly empty save for these people and a few others cowering in the corners.

(Reika you feel someone poking your thigh and a hand on your left buttock)

Leo was glad when his knives struck where he'd aimed and then stuck into the thing. Whirring and popping came from it which Leo guessed was probably bad for it, but good for them. He drew out a couple more knives and prepared for anything.

As he pulled them from his vest, the woman with the gun shot at the strange armoured thing. The shots wentthrough or stuck into it. More smoke came from the holes. It prepared to strike at her and Leo readied himself to move to help her. Just before he did, it's arm froze. Leo stepped back and stood in a defensive stance.

He watched as the thing tried to turn its head. It wasn't able to because of the knife. Leo smiled, glad he'd hit his mark. A loud breaking sound came from it, making Leo feel confident that they could finish it off now.

The man with the horned help attacked. His blade was embedded in their enemy. It got stuck, but Leo figured it probably did some damage. Yet Leo became woried when it rasied its other arm. A little light was visible and Leo looked one, not sure what to expect. Suddenly the room was filled with the bright light. Even after it was gone Leo couldn't see anything. He could only hear a flapping noise in the distance as if some large bird was on its way. He closed his eyes tight and crouched on the ground. He tried to hide in case their enemy attacked him.

Reika was stunned for a second, looking at the armored man - man? - she'd seen walk in here earlier. It . . . it couldn't be a man, not with those blades stuck in it and not a drop of blood to be seen. But then what was it? They should clearly do something - whatever that woman with the wagon wanted, she was pretty sure she was against.

But it seemed like the warriors in the room had things well in hand. Perhaps Jasleth would be able to help. It might not be good to add more confusion to things . . . hold on. Something was poking her, and . . . .

Then she felt the hand on her rear, and turned quickly, her eyes blazing. "Get your hand off my ass!"
