On Friday, The National Rifle Association took a shot at their own president Oliver North. The suite details increased “tensions” between the two.

“An updated version of a civil complaint, entered in Virginia state court on April 24, make new claims about Col. Oliver North’s relationship with the company that runs NRATV, the video network linked to the gun-rights group,” a report from The Daily Beast said.

Adding, “The filings are part of an eye-popping lawsuit the organization filed against its long-time ad agency, which built and runs the network. The suit gives a rare narrative of the tension within the organization.”

NRA President Oliver North said on Saturday he will not serve a second term and is stepping down after a bitter power struggle with executive director Wayne LaPierre.

According to USA Today, “North’s surprise move came after LaPierre charged that North, a controversial figure in the 1980s Iran-Contra scandal, was trying to drive him out of the organization. North, 75, was finishing out his first year as president this week. NRA presidents normally serve two consecutive terms in the unpaid position.”

See, North has a seven-figure contract with the NRA's longtime advertising company Ackerman McQueen (AMc -- or, in LaPierre's letter, "AM"), which pays North to shout loony shit on NRATV. And now Oliver North and another board member are trying to get rid of LaPierre at the behest of their bosses/buddies at AMc.

Forget your dragon porn. The real action was in Indianapolis at the annual Gunhumpers and Notracistbutters Jamboree. Trouble's been brewing in Ammoland, with the NRA suing its longtime advertising company Ackerman McQueen to get an accounting of how exactly AMc is spending $40 million a year, most particularly how much it pays NRA President Oliver North.

The bulletheads managed to keep their company manners on through Friday for Donald Trump's dementiasplainer and Mike Pence's dystopian fantasies about the Green New Deal coming to steal your guns.

First of all, doing one dollar of business in New York -- or having one donor who is a resident of the state -- subjects the NRA to New York jurisdiction. Second of all, you can't escape New York because that's where we keep all the banks and insurance companies. Third of all, nice try, gunhumpers, Ms. James will see you in court.

What happens when the NRA meets today is anyone's guess. Any rational organization would give Ol' Wayne the boot, since he's the one who signed off on board members making all those side deals with the "charity" and then forgot to disclose 'em to the IRS and the state of New York. But this is not a rational organization. It's a coven of Deathstick Merchants who hoovered up cash from the rubes for decades and may not want to go cold turkey, even with Letitia James banging down the door. The source of the documents appears to have been Oliver North, who was just ousted as president of the NRA following a heated civil war among its top leadership.

These gun nuts do not play nice! In the run-up to the NRA's April 29 board meeting, then-president Oliver North teamed up with the gunhumpers' longtime advertising company Ackerman McQueen (AMc) to attempt a putsch. They threatened to release damaging info about the NRA's finances if Wayne LaPierre didn't quitfire himself immediately as CEO. Except Wayne called Ollie's bluff, the board stuck by him even after AMc pulled the trigger and sent them the dirt, and Ollie was immediately replaced with Carolyn Meadows, Your Confederate Granny.

But all has not returned to normal in Ammoland. In fact nothing has been normal since the NRA sued Ackerman McQueen to force it to account for all the money it spent -- $42 million in 2017 alone. Last summer, the NRA bigwigs had a come to white Jesus moment and finally grokked that the State of New York was for serious going to eat their lunch if they didn't get their books in order. They had made one or twelve little ooopsies and failed to disclose millions of dollars in payments to board members and their families, or (since the NRA is a "nonprofit) that would be "related party transactions" in IRS-speak. So the organization resolved to turn over a new leaf and get square before New York Attorney General Letitia James dropped the hammer. But, for some reason, AMc flatly refused to give an accounting of its spending, most particularly how much it paid Oliver North -- remember, then the NRA president -- to appear on NRATV.

Seems that in 2014, Ackerman McQueen gave Ol' Wayne an AmEx card, and he used that card A LOT.

Former NRA employees wreck Wayne LaPierre for lavish lifestyle — even as workers’ pensions get frozen

Former employees of the National Rifle Association are sounding off about reports that NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre has been maintaining a lavish lifestyle even as they see their own pensions frozen.

NPR reports that several former NRA employees have come forward after Andy Lander, who worked for the organization for 13 years, wrote an open letter denouncing the way that LaPierre treats his workers.

“The NRA said it had implemented a freeze to their pension plan in 2018,” NPR explains. “This means that even current employees who are in the plan can no longer accrue new benefits despite continuing to work for the organization… The freeze in benefits for employees who participate in the pension plan is in contrast to a one-time $3,767,345 supplemental retirement payment LaPierre received in 2015 according to the NRA’s public disclosures.”

NRA Subpoenas Oliver North, Its Ex-President

The National Rifle Association’s already-toxic legal fight has gotten nastier, somehow, as the powerful gun-rights group has subpoenaed its ex-president.

Previously unreported court documents show the group served a subpoena on Oliver North late last month. It also subpoenaed Lance Olson and Daniel Boren, according to the documents; all three men are members of the NRA’s own board.

The subpoena asks for a number of documents from North: anything sent from April 10 to May 22 regarding people who work for the NRA’s longtime ad firm, Ackerman McQueen; any communications sent over the NRA’s contentious Indianapolis convention about CEO Wayne LaPierre or Ackerman McQueen; documents about the NRA’s expenditures; documents about North’s expenses; and communications about leaks.

18 members of the NRA’s 76-member board, who are
not paid as directors, collected money from the group
during the past three years, according to tax filings,
state charitable reports and NRA correspondence
reviewed by The Washington Post.

CEO Wayne LaPierre racked up hundreds of thousands
of dollars in charges at a Beverly Hills clothing boutique
and on foreign travel, invoices show. Oliver North, forced
out as president after trying to oust LaPierre, was set to
collect millions of dollars in a deal with the NRA’s now-
estranged public relations agency, Ackerman McQueen,
according to LaPierre. And the NRA’s outside attorney
reaped “extraordinary” legal fees that totaled millions
of dollars in the past year, according to North.

"The volume of transactions with insiders and affiliates
of insiders is really astonishing.”

The feud comes amid an investigation by New York Attorney General
Letitia James, a Democrat, into the tax-exempt status of the organization,
which is chartered in New York. As part of the probe, her office has issued
subpoenas to the NRA, as well as orders to NRA entities and vendors to
preserve records, according to people familiar with the investigation.

Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee have been examining
the group’s ties to Russia. That inquiry has expanded to include the
allegations of self-dealing.

The National Rifle Association is overdue on more than $1.6 million in unpaid bills, according to a new court filing made by its longtime advertising firm.

On Wednesday, Ackerman McQueen, an ad agency that has for years worked with the National Rifle Association and runs the gun group’s media arm NRATV, filed a motion for a preliminary injunction against the NRA. It’s the latest move in a brutal court battle between the ad agency and the powerful pro-gun organization.

It could also spell the death of NRATV, a pro-Trump online TV network known for its culture-war content.
