When I was much younger, I played drums and Ringo was my hero… he still is. Absolutely brilliant! And I get miffed every time I hear someone make a disparaging joke at his expense… who had the first hit single after the Beatles broke up? Ringo!

Ringo was my inspiration as a drummer before others. He never overpowered but kept the beat strong and steady.

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Born On The Bayou

It seems like 100 years ago now (probably 15) I was in this small bar, with a bunch of drunks having fun, and a bunch of musicians. A guitarist singer steps on stage and calls this song… I grab my bass (because I love Credence), amd we play the song. And at the right spot in the song, I play a different lick. Stu Cook played some interesting stuff im that song, and I had learned it… and that night, I played it. Both the drummer and the singer guitar player turned and smiled at me when I played the original (brilliant) bass line in the song. As a musician, that was better than a f-ing oscar.

Ellen Foley is female vocalist for Paradise By Dashboard Light. She has a lot of songs of her own and supposedly the Clash song Should I Stay Or Should I Go is about her. She was also in TV show night court and the Hold Steady mention her and Mearloaf song in Certain songs. Cheers to music people!
