Oh, the weather outside is frightful -

But school for our children has already been cancelled for tomorrow -

AND so has hubby's school and my own classes -

AND we made emergency runs last evening to stock up on groceries and such, including new sleds and lots of bird seed and other critter food -

AND there's a cheerful fire blazing, we're warm and well-fed, we have lots of popcorn and movies -

SO - hopefully we're ready for the many inches of freezing rain, sleet, and snow that will be dumped on us here in the Midwest for the next two days.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

We tried to get as much moisture out of the storm before we sent it on, Sarah, but I'm afraid we weren't able to compete. ;)

Everyone I've ever met from Kansas was humane and nutso at the same time.

Hmmm.

I'm so excited for this big storm. We're supposed to be hard hit tomorrow during the day. I hope it comes a little early or a little late so my kids can score a snow day too! I love snow days!!

Check up on my son, would you? On second thought......:D

Perhaps he's in one of my classes?

I'm a grad assistant - oh-so-serious and professional.

Students remain unaware of my smut-writing alter-ego - I hope! ;)

Frightful weather -

Actually, round two of the freezing rain is coming down now.

This bout does concern me because of the possible upcoming power outages.

Ah, well. We've got candles and batteries, portable heater and extra firewood, extra food and alcoholic beverages . . . :D

Are you in the school of music? :D

I don't let him read everything, but he thinks some of my smut poetry is amusing.

Our lights have been flickering alot. I guess they have some really bad outages in West Wichita and Hutchinson.

I think Wichita actually cancelled school for Wed by 4 in the afternoon on Tues. For them to close school is unheard of.

Um, yes I am, actually.

Of course, KU is a big school, the music dept is fairly large, perhaps your son and I haven't crossed paths yet?

We had freezing rain earlier, but now we have snow, and I believe I'm further east than the Kansas folks (unless we've had a major earthquake and didn't notice it - unlikely). I hope it isn't too bad tomorrow.

Sad to say, we haven't gotten enough snow yet to cancel school or anything good like that! Maybe it'll keep coming down and I'll get to pick them early!

I'nit odd how "good weather" means different things to different people and in different contexts?

I was disappointed when our Christmas snow only settled on cars, but delighted when the 4th (forecast: "heavy rain") turned out fine.

Enjoy whatever you get, logo.

Thanks Eff! It's snowing again now, and seems to be coming down heavily. I'm still holding out hope for tomorrow. My kids were off school for 10 days over the holidays, but we were so busy with family and guests (and I had about a million births) that I hardly saw them! I just want a day to lay around and cuddle them. Maybe play some games, braid some hair, etc.

"a million births" - hey, that's some pregnancy! All yours?

Or have I misunderstood something?

Sorry for the befuddling message! I'm a homebirth midwife. The "million" was an exaggeration. And no, I didn't have a million babies. I attended the births of several women over the Holidays. At one point we had three clients in labor at the same time.

I'm beat!

Here in Canada, it doesn't matter how much shit loads of snow or freezing rain we get, nothing ever gets closed down.

Yea midwives!

Our children were born at a Birth Center - wonderful experiences!!!

(And logo, I'm wishing for some school-closing weather to head your way!)
