Oh Que!

Now if I just had a drink recipe. We're getting a little wasted trying to figure out the proper proportions of black rum, Crispins hard apple cider, ginger beer with a spash of lime and some sugar. Coming up with some interesting variations. Anyone know what we're tryingg to mix?

I was just told that rum and ginger beer is a dark and stormy. Not sure what to call it when you start adding the other ingredients.

We seem to have come up with something satisfactory. And if you don't get high on the alcohol, you will on all the sugar.

Mmmm... ginger beer and rum. Yes, please!

Happy birthday, Dave!

A happy, healthy 2016 to you all! :)

Thank you. And only rum and ginger beer. The other ingredients we added proved to be... flavor overkill?

A bit of lime is nice, too.

I have rum, but I've no ginger beer. I must get some more. I love ginger beer, especially when it's got a good burn to it. Mmmm

I fasted for new year, and g is only eating lightly, so no cocktail or drink for us this evening, but have to admit temptation. However, I will not be drinking ( alcohol) for a while now. My recompense to body and mind for drinking more over festive season ( even though I don't drink a lot, but often a drink a day, and more with meals) is to have a complete break for a while. My feeling is that if I cannot give up for some months each year the warning sign is that I need to give up completely.

I know what you mean. I need to make up for the gluttony of holiday season. Get out the snowshoes and at eat sensibly, healthily.

I was so paranoid about being immobile for two months because of the ankle I lost five lbs...I think it was all muscle though.

hehe this is embarrassing to admit but last night, I got to the hotel in Chengdu via the shuttle, checked in dumped my bags in the room and went out for a bite to eat. Around the corner was a street full of snack stalls, rooms full of mah-jong players, hookers, massage places, got a bag full of BBQ chicken bits (wings, a leg, some chunky bits on a stick, green chives, and sliced eggplant, mushrooms), walked away, thinking I was headed back to the hotel, but nope, wrong way, went back, up another lane, chomping on the chicken, checking out the hookers, nope, wrong way, then back again, running out of options, totally lost now. I asked a shopkeeper, she just did not know (or didn't want to know), then another one, ditto.
Didn't want to interrupt the cop in the patrol car more interested in his phone. Did the only sensible thing then: went up to a mini taxi driver on the corner, called the missus back in Nanchong when I had shown him the text message I had got telling me the room had been reserved for me. She found out the phone number of the hotel, texted me that. Then he called the number, got the name and address, I got in and off we went, down a street, a turn right and ta fucking da! there's the hotel. I didn't wait for change from a 10 rmb, the guy was my hero! and snuck in past the receptionist, also on her phone.

Up at 5 am this morning. Off to the airport at 5.30, only took 1/2 hr to check in, get past security and find my gate. Off on time at 7.10. It's been a long day already, just woke up from a nap. Off to customs again tomorrow, to fix the paperwork so that (hopefully) my stuff will be allowed in.

I like the new picture Jezzilee.

Thank you plane_guy! :)

I'm hoping after everything you finally get your stuff in!

Occasionally, Jezz, the thought crosses my mind that this latest exercise will be a complete and utter waste of time, effort and money. Especially if customs asks to see my new visa (which makes me effectively a non-local now and out of their jurisdiction), but we are going to try and keep that fact quiet.

Yesterday, the print shops were all closed so we went into an express freight company and asked them to print out about 20 pages of documents. What should have cost a few Jiao each ended up costing 1 rmb a page! That's like paying a buck a page instead of 10 cents. Arghhh what ya have to do!

@Michael.. I don't know how much 10rmb is, but it sonds worth it for a great story.

Still loving China?

lol you want an honest answer?

Let me try.

When things go right, like today for instance, yes, absolutely.

But that can easily change. I'll get back to you in a few days. I might have a different story.

I really hope things come to a happy conclusion for you. When we first spoke I remember the passion with which you spoke of your surroundings. I don't want the little things to add you on something you so clearly enjoyed :rose:

Day one back to work. Im a happy girl. I am on light duty. I can't lift more than 25 pounds, can't be on my feet constantly etc. So far it is working out perfectly.

The boss is lugging the 50 lb bags of salt, I am chipping the 2 plus inches of ice off decks and sidewalks and parking lots the shoveling it away. Half hour later we are done at the property and I'm resting my foot in the truck til we get to the next one.

So happy to feel like I am accomplishing something again!

Its good to hear you happy :)

I think its good for you to be occupied again.

For me its my first day back in routine too, with out G after his epically long festive break. Even though we kept up with house work some how house is FILTHY. Pine needles in lots of places. My sometimes houseguest arrives tomorrow I am not sure if for the week or if staying to weekend too. Hope only the week..

On the plus side. YOGA CLASS again this week. Urgh, I have missed my class.

You should put your houseguest to work cleaning. ;)
