Let's all re-live a tragedy!

Such marketing bullshit on the part of the US Government...

"Oh, let's all hold hands..."

Fuck off.

I am of the personal opinion that we should relive the tradgedy far more often then once a year and not for any marketing bullshit or political gain. We should relive it to remind ourselves as a natio to stay vigilant, we should relive it to mourn the victims whose lives were cut short, we should relive it for those aboard flight 93 who fought back giving their lives in the process and we should relive it to remember those first respoders who rushed into a hopeless situation and in giving the full final messure of their lives preformed the largest rescue operation in history saving countless lives. Think of this day how you would like but this is how I will always view it.

The old guide, to be phased out by late April, will be replaced by a two-tiered National Terrorism Advisory System detailing
more specific warnings, with either an "imminent threat" or "elevated threat" of a terror attack, said President Barack Obama's
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

"Today I announce the end of the old system of color-coded alerts. In its place, we will implement a new system that's built
on a clear and simple premise: When a threat develops that could impact you—the public—we will tell you.

The Homeland Security Advisory System

Red- Be Totally Paranoid and in Fear of Your Life
Orange- Be Fearful
Yellow- Be Afraid
Blue- Be Nervous
Green- These are not the droids we were looking for.

If anything happens, the government has control of all communication and media devices.

Welcome to the Outer Limits!

In other news, people are still dying or suffering from injuries from 911. :rose:
People still have heartache from losing loved ones to 911.
The monument in NYC is a Band-Aid, on something that will not heal.

Wait a minute.

It's 9/11 11 years after! That's makes it more momentous.

*solemn*

Right. Because the nightmare of that day and the events that resulted should totally be forgot because you're tired of hearing about it.

i gota friend who's dad died on 9-11, he was one of those people who jumped off.

I have a friend who lost her husband while he fought the fires.

But it's not about it being personal. It's a day of remembrance.

For those of us who still honor those thousands who died in the Village of Cajamarca (Peru) during Spain's conquest of South America - 1532 - this is also a special time of contemplation.

Also join me in remembering the civilian casualties of the Second Congo War (1998 - 2003), the bloody Dungan Revolt (1862-1877) ethnic wars in China, and Caesar's Gallic Wars (58BC-52BC).

Thank you.

I think 12 years is more significant. A dozen of anything is good (think of donuts or pizza slices).

Plus, 9/11/13 are odd numbers in succession. My numerology friends and calendar-o-files are planning something for it.

When it happens in your own backyard it's sometimes hard not to think about it on the anniversary of the tragedy. Unless, of course, you are made of stone.

Rememberance is good.
When an occasion like this has all of it's dignity politicized out of it, is when things start to smell.

This is true. And for those who survived it or lost loved ones, the politics pale in the face of the need to remember and somehow commemorate those lives.

She left out the most important part.
