Oggbashan is MIA

For those that may have missed this on another thread

===
Thank you for posting that. I had the pleasure of interacting with Ogg a time or two about his stories, and he was always a gentleman. I too was worried about his condition. It seems the older I become these things hit harder. RIP.

SR, I hope you fight as hard as Ogg. Keep it up, my friend.

RIP, Ogg. One of the mainstays of Lit.; always a gentleman, which is not easy to do at Lit.; a unique personality; and an inspiration for us all in his fight for life. I just saw the latter part of this thread as I'm having a health journey of my own.
Take care. We'll get through this together.

I managed to access Dick's main email account and found your address there. I hope you don't mind but I find email easier and it's more legible for other people, particularly when I have a lot of information to pass on.

The details for the live stream are below. As the link has been forwarded a few times before it gets to you and anyone else you forward it to, it almost certainly won't work just by clicking on it. But it's easy to enter the site name in the search bar and then enter username and password when prompted. I'm pretty useless when it comes to computers and technology but even I managed to navigate it successfully when a friend used the same funeral director and live stream for her husband's funeral a couple of years ago.

Do you have an idea of how many people are likely to watch the live stream? They have a limit of 150 as any more than that affects the quality of the webcast and they then have to make some changes (and charge us more!). However, they do record the proceedings and then review and edit it and it can then be watched from three working days after the funeral - in our case that probably means it will be ready by Wednesday 19th, and definitely by Thursday 20th - so if some people are happy to delay watching until the "Watch-again" service is up and running that would probably be a good idea. I'm not sure how long this facility remains available but will ask when I next talk to the funeral director.

Thankyou for your kind letter and for passing on messages from some of the other members of the writing groups. It's nice for us to know how much he was appreciated.

Best wishes,

Jenny Eburne.

In that case, perhaps redact the link and login details from public view for the live version so family can participate. Maybe a few that were closer can have it via PM.

Thanks. This particular ailment that has me in rehab is not terminal. Abscesses in the back that are inoperable and come with permanent pain and the need to recover mobility. I'm still posting stories to Lit. regularly. The difficulty of typing in pain is curtailing posting to the discussion board, but I'm following it.

Here's hoping you get some relief from the pain. I've missed reading your post.

News:-

I have received a letter from Ogg's wife who informs me that Ogg died on the 30th May, peacefully at home with his family.
His funeral is scheduled for 14-07-23 at 15:20hrs. His daughter Kate is investigating the possibility of live-streaming this event.

May he rest in Peace.

It feels like yesterday when I first joined the forums and riddled him with noob questions. He was always polite and helpful.

R.I.P. ogg :rose:

All the best, Keith, and stay with it. Big hug to go with the best wishes.

I would have liked to see the replay but using the listed 'user name' and 'password' didn't work for me.

I just tried it again and it worked fine. On the user name, make sure that the first part is: w a h i and not w a h 1(use letter i and not number 1)

I did use the four letter and four numbers but the error msg I get is: "Please use the requested format, four letters and four numbers". I guess I just am not gonna get to see the service. I did find (on Legacy) a notice about his death/the service. Was rather suprised to see they had his age at 79; somehow I just thought he was older than I. There also is a picture.

Hi @AloneTooLong, I just copy/pasted the details HP provided and got in (wahi8841, 28960). The site did say the stream was again available, so maybe they had a technical hiccup.

I was also surprised that Ogg was 79.
