Ogg has not posted in eight weeks and his latest posts indicated his situation with cancer was deteriorating. I have discreetly tried to find out anything about him with no success. If anyone has any definite information about Ogg, please let us know.

Ogg has over 55,000 posts and nearly 500 stories on this site. If indeed he is gone, there will be a difficult hole to fill on this site.

I noticed that as well. I hope he is OK. Ogg has always been a civilizing presence at this site.

There is a search party out looking along the English coast, but at the moment they have nothing to report.

They promise to keep us posted when any news arrives.

Yeah. Two months ago. His last post was on 4/14, commenting on his daughter mucking up his computer passwords in a Windows upgrade. He was also reporting frequent falls and his medical assistants couldn't handle his weight for the most basic tasks. Hopefully our search party finds him in better stead than his last report.

I've been worrying about Ogg for three months. His post became less and less frequent. Then they stopped. He returned for a few days, told us it wasn't going well, then nothing for two months. I've refrained from asking. I've only exchanged a few back-and-forths on the forum with him. He was always quite kind to me, and I appreciated his points of view.

Ogg was noting the fewer functions he was able to perform on the computer and the worse his medical condition was becoming. Think we need to let him drift gently in the night and just be very pleasantly surprised if we hear from him again.

I think it's appropriate, though, to lament his absence and to reflect on what a positive influence he has been in this forum. I don't know what's going on and I'm not going to speculate. I'm wishing him well and hoping he comes back.

For those who might not remember or weren't around, we had a story event for Ogg 3 1/2 years ago--December 2019 I believe--in which people wrote stories based on one of Ogg's many stories. It was a nice tribute. I contributed a story as well. I'm not sure Lit has ever had a story event targeted at honoring a particular Lit author before or since.

There's not been a similar tribute since, and that's the only one I've seen since I joined Lit in 2014 - which is indeed a tribute to a Gentleman Pornographer of the old English school.

I didn't know him at all.
He replied to me once, maybe twice, then never said a word to me again.
I hope he's doing as well as possible.

After we lost Slyc, we did a FAWC (which he started) in his honor.

I keep hoping to see Ogg post something in this thread to let us know he is alive and only taking a break. I fear that's an overly optimistic wish.

I'm glad he was able to get our well-wishes and tributes back when he assumed he was dying imminently (but wasn't). Such a gift, to get an early send-off! I was happy for him then, and I'm hoping the joy he must have felt stayed with him.

And if he has passed? So be it. He'll be fondly remembered by hundreds of people he never met, but influenced positively. We should all be so lucky.

If he hasn't? He'll come back and read this post, and I hope it'll make him smile.

Despite views to the contrary, Ogg is well aware that his time is limited.
Apparently, his lung cancer is not the only problem (his oncologist is, apparently, amazed) in that there is a bit of a 'game changer' - ('shadows in the brain area').

So, folks, if you know some really good prayers or appeals to the deity of your personal choice, you might give them a dust-up.

As I've told King Oggbashan in the past, his nickname - Og - is Irish for youth. And no matter what, his memory and his legacy will always be young and fresh in the minds of those who know and who have read him.

Thanks for the update.

I don't know Ogg and haven't really interacted, but he has a presence which goes far beyond his picture and writings. If he is now writing on another plain then he will be missed.

News:-

I have received a letter from Ogg's wife who informs me that Ogg died on the 30th May, peacefully at home with his family.
His funeral is scheduled for 14-07-23 at 15:20hrs. His daughter Kate is investigating the possibility of live-streaming this event.

May he rest in Peace.
