Official Support Thread - 5th Annual 750 Word Project

Just finished my first 750 Word Project entry ("A Kiss") and have it being reviewed by a couple of folks. It's my first submission in Erotic Couplings and is a change of pace for me (which is nearly always A Good Thing): only two lines of dialog and passionate rather than sexual. It will be interesting to see if anyone complains about the lack of sex (though I think it's a very steamy story).

I'm also working on a BDSM story for the competition. That poses more challenges for the shorter format, but the discipline is good. Working title: "Mercy or Toes."

UPDATE: changed the title from Competition to Project. Thanks to @Duleigh for the reminder.
I just submitted the first story (thanks to @proseinagarden for her eagle eye) and am working on the second. I'm interested in seeing if any commenters notice the twist in the first story.

I finished the draft of a 750 word BDSM story, but I'm not convinced it actually works. Is there someone here who's familiar enough with the category to give it a quick look and offer some brutally honest feedback? It's harder for me to be objective, as it's based on a true story.

I know we're not even halfway through the month yet, but I enjoyed the challenge. The 750-word format allows the author to experiment with narrative styles that wouldn't work in longer pieces. I'd write a second (or a third), but recently took on a new volunteer project and can barely find time to drop in and read the latest.
I'd love the be able to look at all submitted stories, but we need consistent tags. Some stories are tagged "750 word challenge", others "750 word project". And there are many other variants. No matter, the full list will appear 1 March.
Nothing but fun, IMO.

This. I've written a little quartet, running on from the theme of my first one. The first part Is just about to tick over 7200 views with 149 votes (which is doing okay for a 750 word story); the second part is in the queue to be posted, and the last two parts are written and I've stopped tinkering.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens once all parts are up, and once the whole anthology list is up. The good thing is, all together it's still only 3,000 words, so that's not a long read for anyone.

The tag for this year should be 750 WORD PROJECT 2023. I've also used 750 WORD PROJECT, just in case people cut it short.

Edit: Ok, my second story is in. "Keeping Up At Cambridge" will soon be appearing on a screen near you.

I did not add such a tag. The admins added it for me, and used the word "challenge" instead of "project". AFAIK, there is no way to search for tag substrings (like "750").

Odd. When they corrected mine, they used both "750 WORD PROJECT" and "750 WORD PROJECT 2023".

It would be nice if we could fix tags after-the-fact without invoking the "It's been edited!" gods. But I understand why not.

750 (no quotes) works fine as a search keyword. Do that in advanced search, limiting just to 'story tags' and you get the whole business, any tags that include '750' in there, in any combination. You can elect to sort by date and pretty much get the entries so far this round.

Ah ha! That's giving me what I want. Thanks.

#4 has been waiting since last Thursday night, It finally has a go live date of Tomorrow.

I've been drawing it out, putting a little time between entries, but that was a little longer than I had hoped for. #5 is ready to go, so is WaWW Chap 13, and then April Fools! I need to poke Laurel and get an official April Fools contest notification up

I just submitted my second entry, a BDSM story, "Beware Dommes Bearing Gifts." I'm still revising my first BDSM offering, so I cleaned this one up. I also found that, by changing the last line, the entire relationship was changed, as well as the character of the Domme. One day, I may resubmit the story with the original last line and see if that changes its reception.

EDIT: My first story, "A Kiss," is scheduled to go live tomorrow. It's a bit of an experiment for me: a cross between Verklarte Nacht and the Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde. Pretentious? Moi?

Sometime your story will shift from “pending” to “new” with a date (within 24 hours but usually less) and then it will publish. I am on the west coast of the US. Usually mine shift to “new” in the late afternoon and publish around midnight.

But depending on category and number of stories in that group it is usually 2-5 days from the time you submit to publishing.

I've been told of a current example that's going to take seven days.

I don't think Laurel has been on vacation. She had a themed contest to account and announce.
