Official Crime and Punishment 2025 Story Event Support Thread

“Stories are to be submitted between September 8, 2025 and September 19, 2025, with a posting date of September 22, 2025.”

This seems to indicate all will be published on Sept 22. I would assume that to be the case and then maybe be pleasantly surprised if they are published as submitted.

I wonder if I have anything already, ready that I can post this year. I don't think I can have another Vengence story ready in time.

BTW, is there a rule that the story has to be completely new? I have an old one that I've been wanting to touch up and it might qualify.... But if that's not the spirit of the competition, I'll dream up some other characters to kill off.
No rule, actually, the idea is really for new stories.

In the past, the stories were published as submitted with the final list of all entries published on the posting date. However, things can change. I'll be submitting mine on 08SEP25 and see what happens ...
This is how it was done last year, and I imagine it will be the same this year.

Hmmm just when I think I have an idea I don't! This is the toughest one so far that I've joined in with!

So, I am definitely submitting my story to the event. The Cupcake Caper is a farce based on a joke in the AH coffee house a few weeks ago. It is my first attempt here at humor. It is an image to Thomas Crown Affair (the 1999 one not the original from the 60's) and To Catch a Thief as they would have been done by folks from the Little Mischief Theater with some flavors from FireSign Theater (predates almost all of you, I know, but they were a big influence on my teenaged humor). With an all lesbian cast. I don;t expect much from it, but it has been fun to write.

An all-lesbian cast only raises expectations...

Don't get them too high. I fully expect this to be my new worst story. Comedy is hard and it is thick and heavy with groaners, and I mean bad jokes, not orgasming lesbians, although it does have a few of those.

I think I'll write something for this event. It will be my first submission for a challenge, but I like the prompt. I'm experimenting with the idea of a gorgeous party girl seducing a nerdy and horny chemist (male) to get some high quality drugs for a rave. Obviously things will get out of hand :) Hopefully not leaning too hard on tired tropes.

I can't wait to read your story.

Funny - a stupid-crook incident from my days as a crime reporter just popped into my head as the basis for a story, and my imagination supplied two additional characters (besides the idiotic would-be criminal) to make it a comic romance. Grad school and work are eating up most of my time, but maybe I can make some time to write for this challenge!

Laurel apparently noticed that my story (Cupcake Caper) got published early, so sometime in the last hour or so, it got pulled back into pending with a publication date of 9/22. It seems to be keeping its votes, views and comments that it already had.

Not a problem, just surprised to see it disappear from the stories list

Interesting- it’s still visible to me.
