Official Crime and Punishment 2025 Story Event Support Thread

I need both a “crime doesn’t pay” and a “crime does pay” story for the Survivor Bingo card, so I’ll plan both of them for this challenge…

I have hit a massive writers block on my story. I need to dedicate some time to it. Thankfully we have a few weeks until the pressure gets significant as September isn't too far off in the distance.

I am trying to finish a story I started two months ago before I start the Crime and Punishment story. I have given myself a hard deadline of next Friday to finish it so I have time to complete the C&P story.

Great to know! I've gotten into this. When I began, the plot was going in one direction. Then I went home for the holiday, and bam, midway through, I found myself taking the story in an entirely different direction. The main characters are 17 at the beginning, but I do make clear that what little sex occurs takes place after they turn 18. I hope people aren't squeamish. The title is Justice, and it is served cold.

I'm still a little concerned about length. I'm currently at 6,000 words and can't see wrapping this up without at least another 3,000 to 4,000 words.
Mike, I used to worry about quantity of words and length of stories but my last submitted story was over 25,000 words. It was all about the quality of it. I wouldn’t worry press on and write what you need not what you feel as long enough.

Friendly reminder - event starts in approximately 60 days, more or less. I'm starting my story today. I was inspired by Melissababy to attempt a period piece. Got some research to do as I write.

Maybe it is because I lost the arc of my Summer Lovin' story but I am burning, no pun intended, through the Crime and Punishment story. I have a few paragraphs yet to writ but am at 22,000 and change. I hope it is received as well as i am enjoying it.

Look out for "Purple Iron", Love, embezzlement, and more

I've written noir style cop story set in 1970's New York... I got swept away by the plot and characters so much that now I can't make the sex fit anywhere. 🤔

"I wonder when that challenge is happening," he mused, and did a search....

Submit your story between September 8 and September 19 2025.

"Oh crap!" he exclaimed, and thought about knuckling down.

(This is such a great challenge event. I had a ball last year and I have a seed of an idea for this year... hopefully I can make it grow).

Edit: if anybody is looking for last year's stories for inspiration: here.

I've always wanted to one of these contests and never found out about them in time! Here we go! Whooooooooooo!

Somebody's gonna die, and by somebody I mean lots of characters.

BTW, is there a rule that the story has to be completely new? I have an old one that I've been wanting to touch up and it might qualify.... But if that's not the spirit of the competition, I'll dream up some other characters to kill off.

Good morning, my apology for this question but, will the stories be published as the are submitted or all at once as another authors challenge seems to be doing?

Thanks
