i think you guys are all getting way too carried away with getting more and more posts, it really doesnt matter, yet i see all these people bragging "i got so many posts" "help me get to X amount of posts", i think its pretty stupid, what do you all think?

I just post for fun. Sometimes when I get to a big milestone, I kinda joke about it while at the same time shaking my head wondering how I spent so much time to make this many posts. But really, I enjoy making up and telling stories. I find many of the threads interesting and want to comment.

This is the list of things I should be doing now instead of posting (not necessarily in order)

1) Reading work related literature
2) Writing work related literature and making work plans
3) Reading for enjoyment and broadening my mind
4) Reading non-fiction on foreign relations
5) Writing a letter to my dear old Aunt
6) Working on a startup for a couple friends - helping out

But instead, I will dream up another story so that I can bring another smile to Yummy in the morning.

I think it's pretty stupid, too. I mean honestly, who really cares? You typed 50,000 words into bulletin board. Unless you get paid for it marking it means nada. You just get an av and a pick your own title bizness. Whooopeee. I wouldn't write home to momma about it and I wouldn't be howling in ecstacy over it. Large numbers of posts pretty much means one should be checking into life outside of cyberland.

Exactly what I said in a thread I started the other night.

(not that I'm attempting to justify my amount of posts) but I said in it.. that I don't have a life.. I work at home (care giving for my disabled mom) after housework is done (until my daughter is home from school) I do nothing but work on the computer (other job is building webpages for local businesses). Lit is open in the background. I do get out of the house in the mornings, for a few hours. That is spent at the Y, working out.

My SO works nights, so until he gets home I do nothing but sit at Lit. I am the first to admit I need a life. But it's not possible right now. I can't help that.

My daily total has gone down and will drop alot more in the next few weeks.. because it's baseball season for my kids. Won't have time for Lit again until September.

Part of the fun of being here is to get to the milestones that are set. Also by saying you need so and so number of posts is a way of inviting people into the conversation, and what could turn into a variety of intersting conversations and meeting new people.

I really rarely pay attention to the number of posts a person makes. (Easy for me to say since I don't have many)

I just take what each individual posts on a "post by post" basis. Just because someone has 1000 or 10000 posts doesn't make what s/he has to say any more or less important or relevant or entertaining.

Just wondering how much steam our AV's would create if they got together. :)

I doubt that I would long be a virgin under your tender care and guidance.

By the end of the day the word virgin would not be what we would be panting ;)

We would be so parched from all that panting that I would once again reach for those cool sexy ice cubes to cool me down..... ah hold on, ice NEVER cools me down ;)

Posts aren't that big a deal usually. But between them and the registered date - we get an indication of the persons age in our community. It effects the way we interact.

In addition, post numbers affect your title and av, so I can understnad the desire to 'push it over' the last 100 or whatever posts.

I once posted 170odd times in an hour - just to see how fast I could go.

But then, it's a general board - if you don't want to see people posting about posts, go play on another board, we have no restrictions over here, and few recriminations.

Visiting a thread repeated can add to your count too

Perhaps, I should be the one to cool you off, you may be too exhausted after those naughty exertions, we wasted the day with. But then again, maybe it would be intersting to see how how you could really get. :D
