I am obsessed.

Either I don't care about politics or I become obsessed. Momentarily, I'm obsessed. I'm reading this whole line of Bush statements and policies at issues2000.org

http://www.issues2000.org/Welfare_+_Poverty.htm#Carol_Moseley-Braun

What will happen is that I will become so obsessed, I will get fed up with it- and then I will 'drop out' and not give a fig until something comes up and then I'll have to start all over because I'll be out of the loop.

I don't think this site is trying to be negative toward him- but he is looking pretty bad here from my point of view. And not to intellegent either. (thinking of what Joe said earlier.) Sure, you can dig up mis-speaks on any elected official, but with Bush, it really doesn't seem that you need to try.

If I would have been in charge of a campaign- I would have definatly run a more pointed one- and more 'negative' ads. I see about a million instances were he either talks out of both sides of his mouth by saying one thing while meaning another (intellegent people can disagree on issues, but we can all agree that... Or in other words, I respect your oppinion but it's wrong.) Or simply saying the opposite of what he really intends to do. (I have no litmus test.) Or softening his position with his 'personal beliefs' (I believe that we should be tollerant of homosexuals, but we should not let them marry or be protected by hate crime legeslation.) HIs idea of compasionate conservatism is telling you that he's personally sorry when the bank reposeses your home! (I'm sorry, but you've got to go- it's the law. By now, best of luck!)

He even said he wan't conserned with Osama Bin Ladin because he wan't in charge of a country anymore (and denied saying it). He's not a consern? What about September 11th?! What about getting the man behind it? Well hell, as long as he's not in charge of a country- he can get away scott free.

and I heard that we just paid for Sadam to have surgery. anyone have any info on this???

sweetie, this is the first poll on the AH that i didnt vote.
take it easy, maybe but not get a life... these things are important and that you are strongly convicted shows that you care.
I know just how you feel. its dangerous for me to delve too deeply because i will get lost in it and i know that the people around me would begin to see me as some kind of fanatic.
so what can you do? knowledge is the keystone. being aware of things that affect you and your family is something we should all strive for...ultimately we can make changes...you know all this, but sometimes, its good to hear someone else say it.

a pat on the back and a huge sympathetic hug.

thanks vella,

the poll was pretty much half joking, something to set this political thread apart from the rest, and maybe make it slightly less irritating. I don't know if it works, but oh well.

I was up late last night reading all these quotes...

Stuff I shoulda done *before* the election, (not that it would have changed my mind or anything)

stuff I wish a lot of other people had read before* the election. But oh well.

what's done is done.

Can you hold your breath for 4 years?

I'm obsessed as well. I find that the farther you go, the harder it is to turn back. Knowledge is a dangerous thing, but so is ignorance is worse. Ignorance is what the Bush administration has used to maintain and consolidate it's power.
Yes what's done is done, but it doesn't mean we have to give up. Fight the fight, not because it can't be won, but because it needs to be fought. Find those in your area that share your ideals and organize. Let your voice be heard.
