Ooh, a mountain cabin, now that sounds nice

We grind to a halt here in the UK too at practically the first flake...! Really, it happens so rarely it's just not worth having massive amounts of infrastructure to deal with it. People are getting better at having winter tyres or snow chains - we have had chains for years, compulsory in many parts of the Alps, where we usually ski for a couple of weeks each winter.

Just posted that, look out of the window, and... it's snowing!!

I've never seen the wildlife in the winter, just their tracks from chairlifts... Must be birds, deer, that sort of thing by the shape of the prints - I always wonder what on earth they find to eat when there's more than a metre of snow on the ground. Makes for great photos though.

Have seen chamois in the mountains in the summer, though, absolutely beautiful.

Ooh, now there's a question. I think we should save the naked wrestling for later We don't want to tire them out prematurely...

We also need to think about how palettes should be cleansed between samplings. And whether it should be a blind tasting. The blindfolds might come in handy later....

Enjoy the beauty and quiet that snowfall brings to the world! I love going out for a walk after the ground is covered and no traffic is stirring just to soak in the peace of it all!! Just wish I had a nice snowbunny to warm up with after the walk!!

Yes, I love how it goes so quiet when it snows. It's partly the snow muffling the sounds on the ground, but also that the world hides away for a while, and that's peaceful too.

I also love the really squeaky sounds you get when you walk or ski on reallyfresh snow, and you know that few people have passed that way yet before you mark it with your tracks.
