I have heard lots of chaffinches. I'm not sure I'd recognise a finch. The housemartins are great fun when they arrive, sitting on the telephone wires and making little raspberry-blowing noises

Many years ago I had a holiday in the Maldives, and there was a bird there whose call sounded exactly like a woman's ecstatic cries. I never actually saw one, but its "oooh, ooooooh, Oooooh, OOOOHHHH" increasing in pitch with every "ooh" made us refer to it always as the 'Orgasm bird'
