Number of views accurate?

I know Literotica is a large and popular site, but the popularity on my latest submission surprises me. The story was approved 2 days ago. The amount of views right now says 32,524. That's huge for 2 days, is it not? I'm not saying my story is good because of the amount, I'm just very surprised at the large number so quickly!

So my question, is the amount of views accurate? Does it include when people refresh the page? Is there some kind of error in the adding up of the numbers? I'm just baffled by the huge popularity.

My other two stories are at 89,333 views and 69,591. It seems if you want your erotic story to be read, this is the finest place for that purpose, I think.

Well this has cleared it up a little:

"Views is not how many people viewed it per se, but how many times it has been opened by a lit reader, including any times you have looked at it yourself. If the stories are multi page or multi part, it's quite likely you have people opening it several times before they finish. Likewise, you will get a lot of folks who are fishing for a story, will open it, read a little or scan, decide it isn't what they want & back click. We gdo get bots ripping stories, but the odds are good your views are legit, just remember a view dosen't equate to someone reading it through."

Nevertheless, it's still surprisingly high.

The largest part of the views on most stories occur on the first few days it's on the new page.... after that it's more or less on it's own... entering a contest or winning one usually brings another alvalance of views... promoting your stories in you sig line and other places helps to...
