I searched multiple ways and didn't find one, so ....

Main Announcement here with dates and rules: https://www.literotica.com/s/nude-day-story-contest-2025-at-literotica

"The Literotica Annual National Nude Day Contest is the number three of six special annual Lit contests taking place in 2025. Unlike the monthly contests, the special contests challenge writers to create compelling, fun tales on a theme.

The theme is National Nude Day - celebrated on July 14th.

-- If you'd like to participate in this contest, please read this entire post. If you don't read the whole thing, you may miss out on important rules, rendering your story ineligible for the contest! --

You can begin submitting on (or before): June 14th
The last day to submit is: July 5th at 11:59pm EST
Winners will be announced on: July 12th

This contest will coexist with the usual monthly contest. A story may only win one or the other, not both contests simultaneously. The prizes for the top 3 stories will be the same as those awarded in the monthly contests: "

So, my question is about 'stand alone story'.

How strict is that?

My concept uses characters and a basic set-up from other stories, but is not a chapter as such or a serialized continuation of anything else. It's just another day and experience in the lives of the characters.

It would be fairly easy to just change the names if necessary.

Also, this announcement is in EC (or at least that's where I saw it), but we can use any category, right?

In-universe stories that aren't part of a broader narrative are, I believe, fine. IIRC @FreyaGersemi did that a few times and didn't have any issues.

Any category is fine. Last year I posted mine in I/T, for example, and the winner was in Mature.

Correct. I too have submitted contest entries using characters from my own series with no issues. All that matters is that it isn't a continuation.

I'm trying to finish off my story I failed to get in on time for the 2023 comp 😅 every year since I've panicked, tried to quickly edit it, then given up and forgotten about it for 11 months

1st draft nearly done, beta reader standing by (thank you) - what can go wrong? Ah, that’s right… the backlog of actual work pushed aside for the sake of writing smut!

Thanks for starting the thread, 5”/12.5 cm. I’d also looked, and then put it into the Somebody Else’s Problem field.

I prepped a story for this contest but it kept growing. Once it got past 35K words I decided to release it as a 5-part series instead. Lesson to me and anyone else tempted: It almost certainly would have received an overall higher score and many more views in the contest. I don’t think I’ll try that again. Good Luck everyone!

This being one of my favorites, I'm working on something I hope I can get finished in time.

Probably as ready to go as it will be. None will go live until the 14th or 15th as I read the announcement, even if submitted early. Guess I'll wait and maybe re-read a few more times and think about some more fill in.

Similar in a way to the Plaything as far as the format of narration, but not really the story line. That's more like Red Shoes and Barb/Barbi.

Certain it will not win, but scoring like the Plaything will be OK.

Got 20k words I'm happy with, think with another 5 I'll be done. Flatmates were out today so did four hours writing naked, got so I'm the zone I didn't even notice when it got dark haha

I read that as "20k words done, five more words to go."

I was wondering which five words you were thinking of adding, and why you hadn't just... typed them.

I have two maybes, but not sure if either is going to make it.

First draft done, really useful feedback from beta reader (thank you), 21K words. Now for a week's obsessive tinkering...

I’ve got several ideas.
One is that Somebody is cursed to always be naked, until they atone or come to accept that they like it. Clothes just magically fall off. By the way, do you think handcuffs would count as clothes?
