No, really. Jennifer Baker, a spokesperson for the gun rights group, said the following after a Federal judge decided that the National Rifle Association cannot use pseudonyms for teenagers who want to buy guns as part of a legal challenge against new gun laws in Florida:
That is a rather unique take on the situation. In essence, the NRA is arguing that a woman's right to an abortion, a highly personal and life changing decision, should be used as an argument for why two teenagers should not have to reveal their names when challenging the newly implemented Florida law which says only persons 21 years of age or older can buy a firearm.
The judge went on to say:
Fortunately, precedent has been set and only in exceptional circumstances is a person's name withheld from a court case. It prevents suing anonymously (the whole confront your accuser issue). Thus, if these teenagers want to sue Florida, they are going to have to reveal themselves. Stand up for what you believe in and all that. If you're that gung ho to own a firearm, what's a little harassment or death threats?

"Just as in Roe vs. Wade, individuals should be able to vindicate the Second Amendment without having to expose themselves to harassment and bullying,"

The judge went on to say:
"If it were entirely up to this Court, this Court would not hesitate to grant the NRA's motion," Walker wrote. "One need only look to the harassment suffered by some of the Parkland shooting survivors to appreciate the vitriol that has infected public discourse about the Second Amendment. And this Court has no doubt that the harassment goes both ways ... "
