I know I mentioned a short while ago about a Homeless Guy who had falen asleep in a dumpster and was almost killed when the Trash Truck came along.

Well it turns out he now has the backing of a large Law Firm here in Southern Florida and is sueing the County as well as the Trash Removal Company and the driver of the truck.

The basis of his lawsuit? Negligence on the parts of all parties because it is not standard practice to check the Dumpsters for people sleeping in them before dumping them.

Okay this guy has a history of Drug Abuse. He is well known to the Police for Petty theft. (Not to mention assault.) He has had several other lawsuits against towns and cities, most of them settled out of court. Now he is sueing the County of Palm Beach as well as the Trash Removal Company.

Personally I hope against hope that he not only looses but the Law Firm backing him ends up havin to pay for his medical and rescue costs. (We all know that isn't going to happen.)

I'm suprised he's not suing the manufacturer of the compactor truck for squishing him.

Crotch coffee, anyone? ;)

Didn't you just know that was coming!

I would have loved to see video footage of all the lawyers lining up outside his Hospital door.

Give him time. I'm sure he will also add the local Fire department because they took so long to dig his butt out. Not to mention the hospital because the staff didn't cater to his every need and whim.

Just goes to show that there will always be stupid people in the world and brilliant assholes ready to make a buck (or a 100,000) off of their stupidity.

Sad part is most people cheer for the stupid.

And what do we learn from this?

IF you happen to get a homeless guy caught in your trash truck -- make sure he's good and squished and deceased. Otherwise, lawyers will help him blame you for the rest of his life.

Isn't that a horrible correlary?

HOw much do you want to bet some trash truck drivers aren't secretly thinking that way?

Yes Cat, I hate it when they start to empty the dumpster when you are having hot, nasty sex in one. It spoils the mood as you have to jump out before getting squished like the rotten eggs and used condoms which are stuck on your tongue.

This guy should be arrested for trespasing, creating a nuisance and endagering his own stupid self, add on attempted suicide. The law firm representing him should be charged with wasting the taxpayers money filing a fraudulant suit and fined all court costs plus a bigazillion dollars for the pain and suffering they caused the poor dumpster emptying trash truck driver and the poor judge who has to listen too this crap.

Just my opinion.

See ya, Lisa.

Hey, a quarter of the university population is lawyers.

Lawyers need work too.

I hope he wins his case. It would make me feel less anxious about where I end up falling asleep.

the true problem

The problem is not the law case, the problem is that we don't care about the people who have no place to go. I hope that I never find myself in the fix that so many people have to suffer these days.

I understand that we don't want to pay for mental health for the poor, or any kind of help without so many strings attatched that they won't accept it. We are a country of selfish people.

If we had a small percentage of the money that our leaders are spending in Iraq we could spend it giving these people a place to live without having to worry if the next trash pick-up will be fatal.

I can't see you ever worrying about that. Certainly you have many bedrooms available.

Mikey there are many aspects to this situation that I am unhappy about, some of them have been discussed here. This includes the treatment of those with Mental Illness here in the United States. (Not to mention the war and how the funds being used for it could better be used.)

However what is so truly disturbing about this case is how the layers showed up at his hospital room. (He didn't have to call them, hell he wasn't in any condition to call them.) They showed up at his room no doubt promising him some large amount of money.
