We are under direct threat.
We've done everything we can - cars are loaded and we're ready to go if or when the police order evac.
The fire is 1.5km from my house.
It's my kidleys 16th birthday today.... one he won't forget.

go jump in the ocean! quick!

i hope traffic isn't too bad.

Right now, we are both sitting out the front, monitoring the flames.
There's nothing else we can do to be ready.
IF it comes close enough to us, we have an evacuation plan in place.
We have 2 refuges - one just down the road in the form of the biggest dam in the area, or if we can get through we will head to the estuary and park the cars just in the water before heading out into the middle ourselves.

As we've learned here in the US if you have guns fires won't burn down your house. This is your own fault.

And yet you have the wherewithal to post on Lit.

Is this from one of the other fires in the area rather than ones from earlier that got under control?

Also, stay safe.

The kidley and I are ready to move.
For now, all we can do is sit here and watch the helicopters attack the fire front and monitor the fire dept website.
Like I said, it's a waiting game.....

These are two new fires.
Earlier today, a tree fell and downed power lines which sparked both fires.

Good one. I now very much like you.

What are you doing on here at such a late hour?

We've been downgraded.... but that doesn't mean it's over.
I can hear both helicopters and can still hear the trees exploding.

I heard that heat lightning is attracted to the iron in the ink of ugly tittoos.

Yeah...well...don't get any big ideas.

Waiting game? Why wait? Go now and beat the traffic. If the fire doesn't spread, you still get a nice holiday in the city (whichever you're headed for).

Heli with waterbucket flying in about 5 mins ago.

Our plan is to stay and defend to the very last.
We have a LOT to lose once we abandon the property.

So far, so good.

you won't have to worry about those feral cats anymore.

I am so sorry
Have been on fire alert recently, fire engines in the front yard
Sending good thoughts
