Notes from the Road

Who needs lingerie with that dress? ;) Shoes are gorgeous too (as is the wearer).

Oh lordy, the conversation has descended into shoes and clothing and lingerie.

I'm going to bail out and go do something manly, like pretend to be a vampire in Hommy's game.

I did mention I bought a truck.

*Roars in a manly fashion*

It's pretty, too.

That's not manly. That's nerdy.

Minus ten points! >_<!

Keroin dear, you do realize that between the dress and the shoes, I now desperately want to overhaul your entire lingerie wardrobe, right? :D

Welcome back to "civilization". :rose:

Miss Mouse, I can think of no one else I'd rather have overhauling my scanties. What can you do with longjohns? (The fancy kind with the button up bum flap, I'm no redneck, after all)

And thanks for the welcome :rose:

Muchas gracias!

All I could think about was that song, "Little boxes on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky-tacky. Little boxes, little boxes and they all look just the same."

I  Ozomatli. That song is unfortunately the only thing that most people have heard from them, but they're a killer band.

And damned if it isn't great to see you again.

Something you should do more often.

A good choice in trucks too. Rawr, right back atcha.

Ahem.

It is kinda manly in a nerdy way. His particular storyline is very hard-boiled.

4. TV still sucks.

A show is coming out on the 26, (travel channel)

It's so funny. 5 tribe members from the south pacific visit the US. Looks awesome. The 5 are composed of the chiefs son, a medicine man, a dancer, a translator, and my favorite a happy man.

They tried on western clothing and one of them said, "now lets take them off before someone gets hurt". I love those guys.

It's called meet the natives.

8. The San Bernadino freeway has more litter on the side of it than most third world highways I've driven on. Can't some people be employed to pick up trash?

... are you making a cheep shot at our houses? That's not very nice.

11. N. Americans are too obsessed with appearance, specifically with the appearance of youthfulness. The skin cream hawkers in the mall, in Vegas were all over me. One guy called out, "Excuse me Ma'am, do you want to try a free sample of a cream that will help get rid of those fine lines and wrinkles?" I called back, "I got these wrinkles from living in the sun, on the ocean, and I love them!"

From the meet the natives preview.

salon girl: would you like to look 10 years younger?
Native dude: no, I would rather live 10 years longer.

:D

Welcome back!

I actually hate TV's being everywhere. If I want to watch TV I'll stay home, thank you very much. I general sit myself where I can't see the darn things.

TVs on the pump are to sell me things where I live. I ignore them.

That being said, Meet the Natives was really cool IMO.

That's a GREAT dress and shoes on a beautiful lady! Awesome!

Thanksgiving is Thursday. I'm looking forward to it because extended family expects less of us lately and my girl will not be caught up in college work!

:rose:

[hijack] They are awesome... Como ves is the one that most people I know have heard.. [/hijack]

Its good to see you back Keroin. Looks like you had a fun time on the road :)

:D Ditto

A good choice in trucks too. Rawr, right back atcha.

Hard to find long boxes anymore, I was lucky. All the new trucks are basically SUV's with open trunks. Annoying.

I have room for me, Chuck, a dog and a camper!

Thanks FF! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. We have lots to be thankful for here, don't we?

Thanks Nax! I did have fun, too much fun almost. I was exhausted by the time I made it back here, lol. I'm also having fun putting down my first roots, too. I really, really, really love Nelson!

A few vacation photos. (You have to provide the slide show "ka-klunk" sound effects yourself, sorry.)

Big night on the town, in Sin City, with the Chuckster. Yep, this is my annual girl-clothes moment...

WOW  You sure is one gorgeous lady! I was sitting here fantasizing about how you would look without that dress on ... but then recalled, that I know that! :D

Welcome back Kerion! I missed you. You are absolutely beautiful all the way around! Hope Chuck knows how very lucky he is...

"Little Boxes" is a song written by Malvina Reynolds in 1962 that lampoons the development of suburbia and what many consider its bourgeois conformist values. The song has been performed by a number of musicians, including the Womenfolk and Pete Seeger. The September 25, 2006 episode of the Showtime comedy/drama "Weeds" featured the show’s opening theme music — "Little Boxes", written by Malvina Reynolds — performed by Ozomatli. The second season of Weeds has featured a different performer and musical genre each week for its theme song.

Sorry. The original version of that song is a fairly important part of my adolescence, and too many people don't realize that it was written and performed long, long before the artists in Ozomatli and some of the other covering groups/individuals were even born.

Har har! Thanks Shy, you made me smile, as always. :rose:

I send Chuck daily email reminders that he is the luckiest man in the world, just in case it slips his mind. LOL. Seriously, I think we're both well aware how lucky we are to have found each other.

Good to see you, too, Patch! :)

My best friend and I discovered the lyrics to that song back in Junior High and the sentiment fit right in with our way of looking at the world. We didn't even know it was a song, we thought it was a poem. It wasn't until I heard it playing on the opening of Weeds that I knew it was a song. Still love it. Thanks for the clarification, SW!

More gumballs rolling out of my head this morning...

18. The crap epidemic is getting worse. I walked through a couple of malls and several stores and grocery stores during my trek and I was blown away by the amount of useless "stuff" on the shelves. Every year there's more of it, every time I go away I come back to find more pieces of nonsense designed to part people from their money.

19. Alder-smoked salt. Wow. Who knew it could make an already-textbook steak even better?

20. I'm shocked at how many Americans I spoke to who were vehemently opposed to universal health care in any form.

21. I ended up sitting beside a member of the All Blacks while playing cards one evening. What are the chances? (Kiwi's will get this). Turns out he's been to Wannahockalugee, even knows the mayor and agrees he is a useless tit. LOL.

22. Only Americans and Canadians know how to make really good cheeseburgers. In all my travels and all the cheeseburgers I've eaten, no other country has even come close.

23. You can buy wine for $3 a bottle in California!! You can buy a good bottle of wine for less than $12!! That's insane.

24. I met my half brother for the first time. What a sweety-pie! Words cannot describe the sensation of looking at someone who looks like you for the first time ever. (We, blonde and tall and muscular, must have looked like Hitler's wet dream, sitting together as we were, lol).

25. Too much texting. It's everywhere. WTF??

Bacon is hugely popular right now. It's one of the odd quirks I've noticed myself.

Eeeeeeeewwwwwww.

I think we can file "bacon mints" in the "Crap Epidemic" file, as well. Bacon vodka? Hold on a moment while my head explodes.

ETA: Mind you, the bacon bra, now there's something society has been crying for.

Whoa whoa whoa WHOA. Bacon vodka, believe it or don't and bear in mind my drink of choice is cinnamon-flavoured liquor, is actually delicious. I shit you guys not, it's not overwhelmingly salty and the bacon flavouring dulls the solventy taste nicely.

The funny thing is, a friend of mine made bacon vodka almost three years ago. He noted the presence of commercial bacon vodka about 6 months ago, so he was way ahead of the times! He's also done amazing things like (coconut rum + chocolate vodka + dissolved caramels), and made his own chocolate vodka, pineapple vodka, caramel vodka...the man is a vodka god.
