A guy who thinks of himself as a looser (when he really isn't) goes along with the situations life deals him. Sure he'd like to share his life with a smart, beautiful woman, but he knows he doesn't have what it takes. He's a virgin, and he's not that attractive (so he thinks) and doesn't bother pursuing a relationship that will never happen.
The unexpected and sudden death of a family member changes a lot of things. This person died almost a millionaire and a large chunk of funds have been sent his way. He's person that's works at a warehouse, up early in the morning, home late in the evening, busting his knuckles to live check to check and living in the shadows of society.
He's not rich but's he better off than what he ever was and for once he can pursue his own goals. He started a small business that became very profitable instead of leaving the shadow of society, he's been in for his entire life, he embraces it, utilizes it. Quietly making moves and gaining profit.
When you think you're not being watched, that's usually when someone is watching. In his case there's a certain woman he'd thought would never cross his path and she's very interested in him as a person, always has been, she fantasied about him. While she's driven to have him and make him hers. He's thinking she's after his growing fortune, what else could it be? She'll marry him, kill him, screw some dude named Antonio and leave the country. All she wants his him, rich or poor, he's hers. It's just better that he has a small fortune so at least her wealthy family will leave her the hell alone.
It's true money changes people. A lot of the times it changes the ones around the person who has it and amplifies the best of qualities and the worst of qualities of not only the who has the fortune but those around that person.
