not guilty?????????????

I heard this yesterday and just thought it was a point to ponder (no matter one's view....just an interesting thought)..... this was the quote...

"Had Casey chosen to abort Caylee, no one would have said anything.....she just chose it 2 years later."

(Again...not starting a different topic here....just an interesting way to look at it).

and did they say ther mother was jealous of her beautiful child ?
How in the world can a MOTHER be jealous of her own child ?

You have to have no reasonable doubts about your decision in a criminal case.

Since a cause of death was never established, as far as we know the child died of a very preventable accident, and the mother covered it up. It probably didn't happen that way, but I can EASILY depict that as being a possible solution to the evidence that was presented, and I certainly would be very uneasy as to convicting her of a capital crime based on what was presented. I definitely would have no moral certitude that the government explanation is the only correct possibility.

If I were on the jury, I couldn't do differently than what they did.

I completely agree with northern, but also completely understand the passions involved. I am no lawyer and have no higher order understanding than the next person, but I believe that many times, from the passion of the moment CAN come great changes....

When the Rodney King police beating verdict came in, there were riots in the street due to the passions from the case....even WITH video, they couldn't convict the police officers....I wasn't at the trial and won't judge the jurors here, except to say that from those passions came real changes with regards to equal rights...maybe not enough, but changes did occur as a result.

Why? Because while passion has no place (IMO) in a trial, it most definitely has a place in the political arena....where laws are passed....and the same passions that started some rioting occurring ALSO started some political changes resulting in changes to laws.

Same with OJ Simpson. Passions were raw because virtually everyone watched the trial live, or watched the recaps when they could. Very few people were uninformed with their opinions. The defense made the evidence handling appear inept and, as a result, he was acquitted.

Public outcry over victims rights started based on the huge passionate response to the verdict. Again, without discussing actual guilt or innocence of Simpson, I CAN say that within a year or two, the One Police Plaza evidence corruption scandal hit the press...exactly as described in the OJ trial. Multipl convictions were overturned as a result of the issue. While this doesn't curb the ongoing passion of the OJ case, it DID help all of us in the long run by exposing an inept system that had to be overhauled for the protection of us all.

My point (long winded and boring) is that, while the passions of the moment always are hard to accept when a curious verdict comes in, many MANY times, unexpected changes get made as a result of the politics associated with the passion of the moment.

There may be a net "good" that comes out of the tragedy...maybe not for the little girl...but the rest of us may benefit from the verdict down the road....at least the optimist in me says so...

This must be a thread for the same irrational people that thought O.J. was guilty too.:D

Jurors declined to talk with reporters immediately after Tuesday's verdict. But juror Jennifer Ford told ABC News in an interview that it was because "we were sick to our stomach to get that verdict."

"We were crying and not just the women," Ford said in an interview posted on the network's website Wednesday night. "It was emotional and we weren't ready."

Ford, a 32-year-old nursing student, said the case was a troubling one.

"I did not say she was innocent," Ford said. "I just said there was not enough evidence. If you cannot prove what the crime was, you cannot determine what the punishment should be."

The prosecution didn't paint a clear enough picture of what happened to Caylee, Ford argued in a portion of the interview broadcast Wednesday night.

A not guilty verdict is saying she is innocent.

A not guilty verdict is saying she is innocent.

Lizzie Borden was acquitted.. she was guilty. If acquitted mean guilty but it's ok.. and not guilty means innocent.. what time will two trains meet in Chicago?

(trivia.. In the Agnes DeMille ballet, Fall River Legend, Lizzie Borden is not aquitted. Morton Gould telephoned Agnes one night and said, "I can't write acquittal music. She hangs." The ballet ends with a hanging because the music was better)

we just needed a better composer for this trial!

this shit gets more CRAY CRAY
so 4 years for lying
reduced to 1 for time served
reduced to she gets out this month
i hope street justice kicks in and she gets shanked

I heard on the news today that one of the jurors is willing to talk, but for some outrageous amount of money.

Of course.

I also am getting lots of facebook posts asking people not to buy anything that Caylee's mom, or her parents, sell to the media, movie producers etc...as a way to NOT promote them any further.

Lightning strike at Caylee memorial 'could be a sign from the angels' | Photo

A tall tree in the same area where Caylee Marie Anthony's remains were found was struck by lightning this afternoon — just hours after her mother learned she would be released from jail next week.

"It could be a sign from the angels that they aren't happy with what's happened," said 40-year-old Keyla Lugo of Orlando, who has visited the memorial in the Chickasaw Oaks subdivision twice this week. "It's a sad day for Orlando, for Caylee and for justice. The rain, the lightning, the storm — it's the heavens indicating they aren't happy."

The vacant lot on Suburban Drive has sprouted a makeshift memorial of teddy bears and flowers — a magnet for thousands since the skeletonized remains of the 2-year-old were found there in December 2008.

"God has spoken. Casey's guilty," said Nicole Perez of Vero Beach as she walked to the mosquito-infested site beneath a steady rain. Perez and her colleague Michelle Cooper of West Palm Beach decided to stop after attending a business meeting in town.

As Cooper peered up at the exposed white bark of the pine tree she said: "That is what I call Karma."

Tammy Vicino decided to take her two twin boys to pay their respects to the dead toddler before they left for their Rhode Island home.

'It's eerie," Vicino said, adding that the mark left by the lightning strike symbolizes celestial justice for Caylee because "there was no justice here on Earth."

The tree did not catch fire.

Casey Anthony, 25, was accused of killing her daughter but a jury Tuesday found her not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated manslaughter and aggravated child abuse.

She was convicted of four counts of lying to law enforcement and learned Thursday that she would likely be released from the Orange County Jail on Wednesday.

I can't believe that she only got 4 years, served 3 and is getting the rest dropped for good behavior. Really?
