North to the Future

I don't know, Champ. It doesn't seem to be motivated by trying to be novel or "correct" (though it's only a single news article, so who knows). You possibly didn't intend it, but "novelty" makes it sound as if he was chosen primarily because he's black, but the guy was Deputy Chief so it seems like a natural move. His appointment to Deputy with an aging Chief in place was actually the more notable move. Sort of set the stage for this. Wonder how long ago that happened.

Doll isn't the old aging chief you see on the TV. He's got his 25 years in with the APD and is able to take a nice retirement. I wonder if he'll continue living in my neighborhood. McCoy has a little more time in with the ADP. Everyone is playing for the media, now.

As a minority who has checked off many job opportunities, I meant exactly that.

Every single one of his job opportunities may, and I emphasize, may,

have been due to the fact that he was not white,

in a white land that had to adhere

to governmental mandate...

:(

That white Alaska had to look like rural Mississippi.

In the name of diversity.

You say that his job opportunities may, and you emphasized may be due to the the fact that he was not white.

And then you suggest that he's in his place due to a government mandate. Control your outrage and make up your mind.

Oh, and this isn't about you. We're talking about a black guy in Alaska. (Sorry, but I've been slapped down too many times for similar personal anecdotes to let that one slide.)

I hope you realize that racial quotas are in fact a mandate. And when they're used for Gov jobs, they're a government mandate. And finally, you do realize that we're talking about Alaska, where blacks aren't native and the natives aren't either.

I’d totally air b n b that cabin in late September when it’s melting hot here in Georgia. But right now someplace in Florida like Marco Island 🏝 sounds better.

Nice to see this thread in the new posts current as the tide washes ashore in the GB

It's May and the snow is gone up there except for a small patch here or there that was a drift.

"Conversation with my 16 year-old tonight: “Mom, being fully vaccinated is THE BEST! Hugs, hanging out with friends who are fully vaccinated inside with no mask, not worrying about having to quarantine. I love it!”

Me too sweet girl, me too!"

This filled my monitor when I scrolled down, and despite my cozy jammies and slippers, I shivered. Wow. Really nice picture.

That's about a vertical mile from the Ruth Glacier to the top of the granite face.
